Please extract the contents of the zip file first into a destination folder
of choice.
When opening a shapefile, navigate to your folder to select the
shapefile(s).

At least with free GE you're not allowed to do much of anything with the
imagery. GE Professional you may be, but I'm not sure if that includes
classification.
