The Windows version of Qgis allows you to run multiple versions on your
computer side by side. I personally haven't used the Windows version for
several years so I can't be sure if you will have any issues running 3.0
alongside your current version. I run many of the editions I have in

Hi David,
I’am an archaeologist working in Québec. If you vectorized the map in a local
CRS, all you need to do is do a « save as » and change the CRS (coordinate
reference system) that is in Longitude Latitude. If your map is not
georefenrenced (that is, you just scanned the map and did not
Many of the processing tools in GRASS, which worked with QGIS 2.18.15,
are unusable in QGIS 3.0.3 under Mac OS X 10.12.6.
They fail with an "ERROR: Path '//' doesn't exist"
message.
I reported this a week ago in report #19073, but thought a reminder
here might help.
QGIS is a wonderful
Hi All,
I am new to QGIS, so this may be a newbie question easily answered by the
more experienced.
I'm working on a historical GIS project to remap an area of Albany, NY
demolished for urban renewal in 1962. I've succeeded in vectorizing a
historic map of the area (~1960), but the coordinates

Please check with the next round of nightly releases - I've just

Hi,
I am not sure about v.transforme but GDA94 is handled in QGIS. I imagine that
this is not the case with the local projection and that you are trying to find
the transformation? Usually, my way to deal with this is to contact the local
governments. They normally have software to convert
Hi Grant:
I would have a look at v.rectify which is a Grass routine that you can
access through the processing toolbox>Vector>v.rectify.

Buongiorno a tutti
Grazie
Thre are a number of troubleshooting steps to try out
1. Start up qgis using the -noplugins switch or remove all installed
plugins or test removing one at a time.
2. Backup the config file and start with a new empty config.
Qgis 2.10 is well out of support, is there any reason you can't
Hello Phil,
I would say less than 50 layers mostly shapefiles. I was hoping to be able
to tweak the project file but that appears to be out of the question except
possibly by a programmer.
Not sure what can be done next, waiting for expert ideas...

When you say “loads many layers”…how many are we talking about – 20, 50, 250?
Shape files, WMS, Raster, Vector? Unknown Exception I suspect is hard to
diagnose, especially now on QGIS 2.10 and Windows 7 which are both pretty old.

Fantastic! You've chosen the right software to do this in.

Can you open a copy of the previous project file in something like notepad
and see if anything obvious can be fixed and or removed in relation to the
DXF layer?

hello Phil,
I did open the project file in Word, 2033 pages, and found 13 instances
referring to the dxf file. Hard to say if anything was wrong there, nothing
obvious. At least to me. Some other research I did indicates that maybe
there is an authentication problem, not sure just what that boils
