Good afternoon
An i7 CPU is very powerful and will have more than enough capability but
it depends on the exact tasks. I carry out all my mapping with Pentium G
CPUs in my computers (i1 equivalent) with Debian as the OS.
I would think the amount of RAM you have is probably of more
I have a project that I opened in Ver 3.2 and saved in
ver 3.2 at home. While on the road on my laptop I successfully
opened it in version 2.12.3 Lyon. It seems to work great on
Lyon. I sure am surprised it worked and very please that it
works. Just thought I would mention that.

If I create a file called test.qgz in QGIS, rename it to tëst.qgz in Windows

Further info - I checked on a debian machine, and no problem with the
QGZ project names with foreign characters. So it seems to be only on
Windows 7.

Hi,
I can’t confirm as I don’t have a computer in front of me but I have had
multiple problems in the past with people making paths with spaces or accents
in characters. (Including the user path in windows.). Best to stay with no
spaces and only “English” characters. This does not only apply
Hi,
My experience is that over heating laptops is often caused by dust in old fans.
Fans can be changed or cleaned but it does take some skills to do that. A
shop can do it for 50-100$. The second problem is that companies use cheap
parts.
I would go the computer that has a cpu made with
Hi All,
I have been using QGIS for about a year and a half now and find it extremely
useful!
I have recently moved jobs from to an insurance provider and they use GIS at a
fairly small level (Viewer license with an online GIS system).
I am looking to integrate QGIS within our team so we can
I just noticed that a QGZ project file with non-ascii characters in
the name will not open. No error message, it just doesn't open. The
same project, saved as QGS opens fine, and if I save project as QGZ
with only ascii characters, it also opens fine.
Can anyone confirm?
Hi,
The error as noted by other can come from the raster that has as missing CRS
file. Same reasoning applies to raster files. The .tiff format can have and
internal tag to specify the CRS. You can write the tag using gdal edit.

Hi,
You can simply left or right click the layer in the layer panel and define the
layer CRS. What you are seing is not an error but your default option to do
when your Qgis tries to open a file that does not contain a CRS. You can go to
your system setting to the section on “what to do when
Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a laptop and wondering about the minimum and
recommended specs for a laptop to run QGIS 3.x? The plan is to use Ubuntu
as the OS and the laptop for writing scripts, working on Process Models,
etc... with occasional full blown tests using 'large' (+500,000 polygon)
