I am still not successful with the install. I have tried several
times using different folders than the 32 install and it creates all
the folders (both the application and the http download), also the
application group that I select (different from 32 bit) is there. But
there are no links
to shorten the process(and make the system a bit more uniform).
What I do is
1. decide on the paper size I want,
2. create a shapefile with that size polygon,
3. scale, rotate and move that polygon up to world coordintates,
4. copy that polygon and move each one along alignment.
5. Edit the page
in arcmap I can setup ddp (data driven pages).
Run a tool to split my alignment by a given length, and then tell ddp
to create a sheet for each segment. Which is ok until your segments go
from north-south to east-west orientation (makes you decide whether to
rotate the page or not or make a square

You should note that excel does that on it's own.
if you look at your data and there is a small green triangle in the upper
left corner, that means the data is available to be formated as numeric.
simply select all the cells that show that (don't select the column heading
name) and then
table to excel.
