Hi Bernhard,
Thanks, I was hoping for better news!
Manifold GIS does exactly this, so I
have been using it for splitting polygons. Cumbersome bit quicker in the end.
Thanks, cheers . . . . S

Hi,
AFAIK processing output is always a new layer. If you want to split
certain features within the layer check DigitizingTools plugin.

Hello List,
Is there a
geo-processing tool to split polygon features in one layer using lines or
polygons in another layer? It is important that the new features
remain in their original layer, just split into two.
This would
be much like the

Dear community
my name is Giacomo, from Italy
I use Quantum GIS 2.6
I have a vector layer with several polygons, is it possible to split
this layer in several layers containing only one polygon each?
Waiting for your reply.

Hi Giacomo,
You can either use:
- Vector menu Data Management Tools Split vector layer
- Processing ToolBox Split vector layer
- LayersByField plugin (I haven't tried it)
You need a field containing unique values, I think.

Hello Marco:
Good news. I finished compiling the svn version, as you suggested, and
tried the split polygon tool. It works fine. No crash. Thanks for the
*quick* fix.
Best regards,
Micha
