Hi Julian, This guide is old and I think not updated. The version 1.8 of QGIS is too old. You should use http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_ogc/ogc_server_support.html [5]. Unfortunately the installation is explained for Ubuntu. You can try this too
