Thats strange. Can you look in your filesystem and see if its present in:
/usr/lib/qgis/libcoordinatecaptureplugin.so
Are you using the Ubuntu packages? If yes and its not there then I
suspect its missing in the debian packaging stuff. Juergen can you add
it in there if its missing?
After installing the newest package for ubuntu
(1.0preview17)
the Coordinate Capture is there.

The only python plugins installed with qgis are plugin installer and
