Which is the measurement unit of the parameter 'Minimum distance' of the
QGIS Geoalgorithm 'Random points inside polygon (fixed)'? Is it map
units? Is it meters?

That at least confirms it - the capabilities are then a bit misleading,
if the layer is not meant to be editable.
