Re: [Qgis-user] How to import/convert *.ige files

2016-06-14 Thread Michael Treglia
Hi Douwe,

I've re-added the QGIS-User-List to the thread, so others can find the
answers/full thread in the archives. There's a 28 kb file that looks like
an img, though it does not have the extension displayed based on your local
pc configurations. (The icon with the file looks like an img).

To show the extension on all files, in the Control Panel (displayed as
Icons), go to Folder Options - 'View' tab, and uncheck the box for 'Hide
Extensions for Known File types'

Hope that helps -
mike

Re: [Qgis-user] How to import/convert *.ige files

2016-06-14 Thread Michael Treglia
The file should come with a .img file - as noted in a stack exchange
answer, "The ige file is just an indexing file to address large files that
exceed 32bit addressing space. The file that you work with is the img." (
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/55299/mysterious-problems-with-ige-file
)

For NLCD 2011 data, I just drag and drop the IMG file into QGIS, and it
opens right away, with the appropriate color pallet and such. If that
doesn't work, maybe try re-downloading, as sometimes if a giant download
gets interrupted it could lead to the file getting corrupted.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

thank you very much for your quick reply. I will try to use Debian Jessie
and take a look in your repository to run Lizmap from docker.
I also will wait for your Ansible scripts release and for the documentation
integration.

Re: [Qgis-user] Installing map server + Lizmap on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-06-14 Thread kimaidou
Hi,

Indeed, we have not yet ported Lizmap for PHP 7, even if it must be pretty
straitforward...
If you can begin from scratch, I will advise you to use Debian Jessie
(stable version) instead of Ubuntu.

To help in the process, we have added a new repository in Github to run
Lizmap from docker :
https://github.com/3liz/lizmap-docker/

We will also release soon our Ansible scripts to deploy a full Lizmap/QGIS
Server/PostgreSQL stack on a fresh Debian Jessie / Centos 7 server.

We also need to integrate the INSTALL.md content in Lizmap documentation,
because the installation process has changed a bit since version 3.0
https://github.com/3liz/lizmap-web-client/blob/master/INSTALL.md

Hi Rob,
Open the URL in your browser - you'll see a list of folders, click on a folder
& drill down this "directory" structure until you get a list of "layers", this
is the URL you paste into the beta QGIS REST tool - eg, for the biota layers,
enter this URL into the QGIS
tool:http://gisservices.scc.qld.gov.au/arcgis/rest/services/Biota/Biota_SCRC/MapServer

Subject: [Qgis-user] Fwd: Access ArcGIS Rest Services in QGIS

Hi,My local council has free online GIS information in the form of an 'ArcGIS
Rest Service'.  It contains various data types including vectors (contours),
rasters (aerial imagery) and LiDAR DEMs.  The PDF file here has details on how
to access from the web or from ArcGIS but I'm hoping it will be possible to
acces all this data from QGIS (latest desktop version 2.14.3-essen).  I tried
plugin: 'ArcGIS REST API Connector' but did not have any luck.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks,Rob

Vorrei spiegare meglio quanto descritto brevemente sopra.

e propri DBMS come SPatialite o PostgreSQL.

1. reg2011_g (gid,cod_reg, geom);
2. prov2011_g (gid, cod_pro, cod_reg) solo alfanumerico:
query:
SELECT
  prov2011_g.gid, prov2011_g.cod_reg, prov2011_g.cod_pro,
prov2011_g.nome_pro,
  reg2011_g.nome_reg, reg2011_g.geom
FROM
  prov2011_g, reg2011_g
WHERE
  prov2011_g.cod_reg = reg2011_g.cod_reg
order by gid;

Infine, sulle geometrie sovrapposte è possibile estrarre i centroidi,
Nathan Woodrow.

Hi Andreas,
Thank you for your kind help!About the documentation development, I do have a
thought: Wikipedia outgrew Encyclopedia Brittanica by letting users
contributing to the evolution of its product. QGIS is a worthy project with
limited funding sources.Maybe QGIS could also opensource its documentation and
make it a wiki edition? I would surely be glad to join the QGIS-wiki effort.

[Qgis-user] QGIS with SQL Spatial 2014

2016-06-14 Thread Aitor Bastarrika
Dear all
I am working on a project which involves QGIS Desktop connecting to SQL
Spatial 2014 both for reading and for editing (I have seen something on
2008 version).
I would like to know if someone has any experience on this implementation.

Thanks in advance!

Either run the installation

  make install
  qgis

Or run from the build folder (isolated, I use that for development)

  make
  ./output/bin/qgis

Not sure if it's this but it could potentially lead to qgis picking up
wrong libraries.

Cheers Matthias

Hi Kuan,

There is a newer manual available (still under development), targetting
version 2.14. You can find it at http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/

For your specific problem - have a look at the "Size assistant":
http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/vector_properties.html#proportional-symbol-and-multivariate-analysis

When you complain about the poor state of documentation, there are
multiple ways of contributing:

- help improving the documentation by providing pull requests

- donate some money so others can work on documentation

- hire a person that improves certain aspects of the documentation

Please do not compare ArcGIS with QGIS documentation - because ArcGIS
documentation is created from a company with approx. 3200 employees and
annual revenues >1 billion US $ per year, whereas QGIS is run primarily
from part-time developers and volunteers - with available funds and
sponsored development in the lower 6 figure euros per year - distributed
over several companies and the global QGIS.ORG organization.

Also - please understand that - unlike some other companies or projekcts
- QGIS is not copying ArcGIS - so it is quite natural that the terms are
different, as well as the UI

Finally: QGIS is not a product. It is a project - and everybody is
welcome to improve and contribute.

Hope this helps,

Andreas

I sometimes use 'strace' to see what happens when something stops.

So: try to build with debug info, that is use: -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug
or set it to Debug in ccmake..

export de LD_LIBRARY_PATH (as in your script)
And then
strace
Maybe the segfault on the end reveals more info.

And if that fails, install gdb, and learn how to show stacktrace with
that
In short:
gdb qgis
(gdb) run
then after crash call backtrace:
(gdb) bt

Hope this helps

[Qgis-user] seeking help on QGIS symbology for clorepleth maps

2016-06-14 Thread Kuan Song
Dear community,
I hope to seek help with QGIS functionality on symbology. The goal is to create
simple maps with variable-sized symbols for a polygon map. For example: a map
of counties, with bubbles on top indicating the population size in each county.
This can be very easily with ArcMap, but is not very easy with QGIS.
Yes I know it should be under the 'styles' tab, and it has something to do with
adding a new symbol. But the part that's baffling with the user interface is:
how do I link a symbol size to a data column in the data shapefile?
Yes I know there is a QGIS manual. However, the current manual is very
outdated. Many parts of it are simply copies of the manual from older versions,
and are utterly useless. For example:
http://docs.qgis.org/2.8/en/docs/training_manual/basic_map/symbology.html shows
a different UI layout to the current software 2.14.

This is a trivial and elementary problem. I feel ashamed asking this question.
I'm sure many people have encountered it before. Could someone point me to a
page where I can find a walk-through with actual screenshots of the current
QGIS version? That'll be very helpful.
Thank you.
And again, to the QGIS developers: Please do not let poor documentation ruin a
fine software product..

Hi Chris,

what distro/OS/version are you on?

(maybe you are better of on dev-list for such questions)

If you build like you do you can either run from build/output/bin directory.
OR you do make install, and if you did not point to a custom install
directory, I think you have todo 'sudo make install' because QGIS is
copying stuff to places where normal users have no write permission.

My take: install in your home dir (you can compile/run several versions
then):

-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/home/YOU/bin/qgis/2.1x

And create a little startup script like belose (take away stuff you do
not need, and fix paths for your situation)...:

# path to libs in install dir
# path to oracle lib
# path to grass70 lib
export
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/richard/apps/qgis/master/debug/lib/:/home/richard/dev/oracle/12.1/instantclient_12_1:/usr/lib/grass70/lib

# passing ALL parameters to qgis bin
# eg to be able to call a certain translation
# qgis --lang nl
/home/richard/apps/qgis/master/debug/bin/qgis "$@"

Hope this helps,

Richard Duivenvoorde
