Great.

However for me is also curious why in my tests this not happened when the
wms was qgis server

[Qgis-user] 3D Map View: Issue with Terrain altitude clamping

2019-08-02 Thread Guilhem Vellut
>
> Hello,

I am on QGIS 3.8 and I try to setup a 3D visualization. I am on MacBook Pro
13'' 2018 with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 graphic card.

As data, I have a SHP layer with building footprints (polygons) and a
building height attribute (no absolute altitude though), as well as a DEM
raster (SRTM).

I am trying to setup a 3D Map View: In the "3D View" layer properties for
the building layer, I use the height attribute as extrusion and leave the
height at 0. Then for the altitude clamping, I choose Terrain.

My expectation is that the altitude of the buildings will be taken from the
terrain layer configured in the 3D map view and then the extrusion will
happen on top of that.

However, what I get instead in the 3D map view is all my buildings floating
at the same altitude and well above the terrain (see the screenshot at
https://ibb.co/mzPVC1w ). The extrusion seems to work fine. I have tried
with a smaller DEM (cut to the extent of the building layer) but this time
the buildings get below the DEM (see https://ibb.co/FKrJynd ).

Is my expectation about the Terrain altitude clamping wrong ? And it is
supposed to do something completely different ? If it is right, has anyone
managed to make it work (maybe using a different graphic card) ?

Also what is the difference between Terrain altitude clamping and Relative
altitude clamping ?

Thank you for your help.

Re: [Qgis-user] failed to add WMS layer

2019-08-02 Thread Bo Victor Thomsen

Stewart..

It's the wms server that doesn't work. It has (probably) nothing to to
with QGIS. I've tried the activate the wms address directly in a Firefox
browser and it does not return a getcapabilities document (it doesn't
return anything) .

The wmts adress works though.

Both the WMS and the WMTS addresses are correct according to this http
page:
https://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/rest/services/USGSTopo/MapServer

So I conclude, the USGS has a server/network problem. Since others on
the list can get a list of layers using the same http address with QGIS
it's probably a routing problem in the internal network of USGS.

I have seen some cases where a corresponding WMS layer is higher
definition, so I would like to be able to use it. Also the long
timeout while starting the project is unfortunate and I don't want to
delete the WMS layer. Here is a WMS layer which fails:

https://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/services/USGSTopo/MapServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities=WMS

And a corresponding WMTS layer which works:

https://basemap.nationalmap.gov/arcgis/rest/services/USGSTopo/MapServer/WMTS/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml

On the failing WMS layer, I have removed it and added it back. When I
test it I get a message saying that a get capabilities request has
failed. I hope someone who might be able to figure out what is going
on can give this URL a try.

2019-08-02 Thread Andrea Peri
Hi,

I know the network plugin. It help me to understand this bug.

The bug is due to the wms provider that when you click on "add to map"
button try to read from the cache the capability info.

If te cache is to zero , in old qgis 2.18 the wms provider do another
request getcapabilities to the wms server to have it.
Instead in the qgis 3, if the cache if to zero, the request is not saved
and the read for add to map fail.

I notice this happen with mapserver and geosevrver, instead with
qgis-server don'.

The only explanation I can do is that for qgis-server it used a differente
code for provider wms.

  Oi Paulo,

You can try Natural Earth site:

Besides the shapefile format they provide lots of data in geopackage
format. Depending on the application this format can be even better.

An update, and this is really really weird.

So a colleague of mine save a QGIS3 project on our work network. If I

and I managed again to open the project in QGIS3 by double clicking. Then
if I close, and try to open QGIS via the Start menu, it crashes. Why?

Hi Dimitris,

Best tool available is GDAL. You can use this from within QGIS, by going to,
Processing Toolbox and typing in repro select Warp (reproject), select your
Input layer, set your Source CRS and then select the Target CRS.
This should be able to do what you want.
Hope it helps,

Hi Dimitris,
Welcome!!

To answer your question, use the Georeferenced coordinates and run, the
distances will be based on the resolution of your image, so 5m resolution will
result in a proximity raster of 5m intervals.
You might want to set the Maximum distance, as this will help to minimise
processing and Image size.
Reagrds,

Richard.

Hello to all ,

This is my first message here. I am trying to create a proximity map with the
Raster analysis tool. My problem is that I only get two options for distance
units , pixels coordinates and georeferenced coordinates while I want to get
them in meters.

I also used the grass tool , r.grow.distance that provides in advanced
parameters the option "Output distances in meters instead of map units" If i
check this option i get the following error ERROR: Raster map or group not
found.

Does any of you know any workaround for this?

I am using QGiS 3.8.1 with GRASS 7.6.1

Kind regards

So it is not the capabilities request that is failing?
I just tried to reproduce this both on Linux and Windows, setting the
cache to 0 and connect to a geoserver instance, and all goes well.
Both capabilities and getmap requests.

Can you maybe install the 'QGIS Network Logger' plugin? And see what
requests QGIS is firing to the server?
And maybe try to replay those requests in a browsers?

Others can reproduce this?

The issue is when click on add to canvas not when connect to retrieve the
list of layers.

I have this issue on qgis 3.8.0 for windows 64 bit.

Hi Andrea,

Can you provide a situation I can reproduce (OS, QGS version, service,
how you load the caps etc) ? Because this would be a proper issue!

But I cannot reproduce it with 3.4, 3.8 or master that I have running
here on Debian.

So if you have a good reproducable case, it sounds like it should be fixed.

Thanks,
