A couple of more comments on using Avenza maps:
1. Unless the rules have changed since I last looked, you can have only
three non-Avenza downloaded maps in your Avenza app. Better than
nothing, but very limiting.
2. You can download KML layers to use with existing Avenza maps in the
app. I use

The plugin should be available in QGIS 2.18 too (as an older version of
course .. 0.1.1 ) from version 0.2 onwards it is only available for QGIS
3.x.

If you mean, which is very likely, the "Vector bender" plugin - this plugin
is available in the repository.
It seems you have a typo in your search and an "l" too much. The search
function is not resistant for typos.

Hi,
I have been using a custom Albers Equal Area for gridding data for some years -
setting it up in Postgis, R & QGIS.
+proj=aea +lat_1=-30 +lat_2=-50 +lat_0=-40 +lon_0=175 +x_0=0 +y_0=0
+ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +units=m +no_defs
It is still working fine in my old QGIS 2.18, and in Postgis
Is there any more news on this 'bug' as it appears to be serious or it might
simply be the wording.
Example:
Project created in old version of qgis and opened in recent version. It comes
up with the message about "Ballpark Transformations" and suggests installing
proj-datumgrid-europe-1.5.zip

I have been experimenting with exporting maps as geo-pdf's and then opening
them on a mobile device (phone, tablet etc) using Avenza Maps. It is
working well and as a bonus it's free. Being able to add tracks and
waypoints on top of the PDF in real-time
