Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS in the commercial world

2020-04-14 Thread Anita Graser

Dear Iain,

Yes, QGIS has an entity: QGIS.ORG is the worldwide association of QGIS
users and developers. QGIS.ORG is constituted as a Swiss ‘association’
(https://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/governance/charter.html) but it is
not a registered charity.

To help support QGIS, organizations are invited to become sustaining
members of QGIS.ORG. The details of our sustaining membership program
are described in:
https://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/governance/sustaining_members/sustaining_members.html

You can also see who's already supporting QGIS:
https://qgis.org/en/site/about/sustaining_members.html

Regards,

Anita

On one of my computers Qgis will display a graphical list of recently opened

How is it possible to get the software to display this list. I have looked

Re: [Qgis-user] Refresh Layer at Interval not working

2020-04-14 Thread Richard Duivenvoorde
I've created a minimal script which generates a random point, more or
less in The Netherlands..:

https://duif.net/cgi-bin/gj.py

If you load that script as a vector layer /Protocol/GeoJSON you will see
one point in The Netherlands.
Upon hitting F5 (menu: View/Refresh), you will see the dot moving as it
is requesting the data everytime..

For what I know this worked for all datasources?

Not sure if this is what you try to achieve, but that is also possible
with python (though I do not have it with me here...)

Re: [QGIS-it-user] Analisi di visibilità

2020-04-14 Thread Stefano Campus

(annalisisa minelli, pierluigi de rosa e ivan marchesini) frequentano
questa lista e quindi ti possono spiegare meglio.

[QGIS-it-user] Analisi di visibilità

2020-04-14 Thread Maria Teresa Masaniello
Ciao,
in "target height meters" lascio 0 e in "field value for target height"
inserisco la colonna dello shape che riporta le altezze?
Grazie

Re: [Qgis-user] Pavement defects Identification

2020-04-14 Thread Christoph Jung
Hi,

My experienced in the field of road surface and condition survey is, that it is
a very tough task to create a robust procedure. There are so many outliers and
special situations. Because of this, many companies evaluate the raster images
manually anymore. A state of the art method would be deep learning using a
convolutional neural network. The Technical University Ilmenau (Germany) has a
project group working on this topic with very good results.

If you have just a small area with big, easy detectable defects, than it could
be possible using the semi automatic classification plugin mentioned before.

Sincerely,
Christoph

Re: [Qgis-user] Refresh Layer at Interval not working

2020-04-14 Thread Raymond Nijssen

Hi Ayyala,

Since the option is in the tab called "Render" I think it will only
re-render the layer and not reload the data.

I tried this:
- create 3 points in a geojson layer
- set a 2 sec refresh interval on it
- open the geojson file in a text editor and add an extra point
- save geojson
The extra point should show up within 2 seconds in qgis but it does not.

Even after panning or zooming it does not show up. I think it would if I
used a postgis layer or a shp-file? Could this be dependent on the data
format?

If you need an example of a refreshed layer, you can type "hackfests" in
the Coordinate input at the bottom. It will show you the hackfest
locations with "moving" markers.

@other users: Does QGIS have an option to reload data for a layer? In
the GUI, similar to the "Update Extents" button?

Kind regards,
Raymond

Re: [Qgis-user] Pavement defects Identification

2020-04-14 Thread Richard McDonnell
Hi,
It would be possible, though it would depend on the raster and the bands (Red,
Green, Blue, NIR etc..)you have available. It could be possible to use raster
Classification to map these features, though I believe you would have quite a
lot of false positives, due to shadowing, surface finish changes..etc..
If you where to look at it I would recommend the Semi-Automatic Classification
Plugin

https://fromgistors.blogspot.com/p/semi-automatic-classification-plugin.html

It can be installed through the Plugin installer.
Please also see the Link below, it may be of further interest.

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12544-015-0156-6

As you may see from the above, it does suggest that you supplement the Raster
Imagery with additional datasets, which should help in the detection of road
defects and the overall accuracy of your results.
Sorry I cant be of more help, hopefully the above will help in some way.

Regards,

Richard.

Re: [Qgis-user] LTR usage survey

2020-04-14 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi Anita,

Thanks for sharing these stats.

I also had a look at the question labeled "In an ideal world, how often
would you prefer to have new LTR versions?"

431 out of 1691 (25%) would like to have a longer time span than 1 year
for LT versions

If we filter this by organization size, this number increases (as
expected) with the size of the organization. In the category 11-100
users, the number increases to 29%, in the category >100 users, it is
already at 40% who would like to see a longer life time of the LT
version. Probably if we had another category with even larger
organizations, that value would go beyond 50% ;-)

It was also good to see that 103 out of 1691 respondents represented an
organization with >100 users. I expected a lower number in this category
and was quite surprised.

Greetings,

Andreas

Hi,

Thanks to all respondents, we've collected over 1,600 responses to
this questionnaire!

Some interesting tidbits:

1) The LTR concept seems to be well accepted: 50% of respondents use
3.10 LTR, 38% use 3.12, and 16% use 3.4 LTR.

2) Most respondents install patch versions but 27% do so less often
than every 6 months.

3) Most respondents install .0 releases but 17% wait until .3 or longer

4) 6% of respondents work in organizations with more than >100 users.
It will be interesting to look at those responses separately.

5) 7% say that they still need 32bit installers

You can find the raw survey responses here:

We'll publish further analyses in the following days and look forward
