Frank, This assumes your lines are drawn from some spatial file and you have labeled them. To display the labels for lines without the lines do this: 1. Open "Layer Properties" dialogue from menu or Layers Panel; 2. Click "Style" tab; 3. In the box that is center-left (QGIS 2.x) or top-left

I normally use a text field and add one letter that represents a north arrow from a font. Those fonts can be found, well I believe in the internet, but as far I know as well ESRI has its nort arrows as a font. Then just add the relevant font to the folders where your OS keeps them. Am

Well I have to go and find north arrows if I want them in my print layout. But when I'm just viewing them in my map they are available under "decorations". It would be great if I could access the "decorations" in the print layout - since they already exist somewhere within the app. -- Sent
