Same problem here in Windows - Grass not working from Sextante (and it used
to work).
The log several places shows a path like set
GISRC=C:/Users/map/.qgis//sextante\sextante.gisrc with TWO slashes before
sextante - that might be a clue?
Pedros log also has this issue I can see.

plugin to be sure to have the latest version (1.08)

Windows was also affected.
After this fix, the problems were solved (at least on QGIS master from OSGeo4W).
But I confess I do not know how the fixes have been applied to the stable
version (1.8).
