Well, I can't locate that GPS at work. But, with just the USB-serial adaptor
conneted, Qgis doesn't show the serial port as available.
My guess is that Qgis uses some Qt routines to check for serial and USB ports,
and maybe that doesn't work for USB-serial adaptors. gpsbabel should work fine

in a csv file?

too, can digitize the points into lines, but, why?

I don't seem to have the python installer in the plugins tab. This is a
Linux (CentOS) install. Can I run the thing separately and external to
QGIS? More to the point, did I miss a step in installation?
