Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Python install

2016-10-07 Thread Tyler Veinot
Nicholas;
I wasn't going to install Anaconda I never used it; I only ever used
Python27 installed with ArcGIS and QGIS. But I could not solve the issue so
I just installed a new Python in the C:\Python27 dir.
How does Anaconda and Python/IDLE differ?

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS Python install

2016-10-07 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
I remember reading that some packages will not install properly in the qgis
Python programme and that adding new packages could break QGIS. I am not sure
if there is still truth to that. In any case, I have started using Anaconda
Python. It is installed with multiple scientific packages and has a nice GUI
for installing more. Pip is also there for the other packages.

If you do install Anaconda, make sure you DO NOT click the "use Anaconda as
the default Python" during the install. If you do, qgis will try to use the
Anaconda and Qgis will crash. If you make that mistake, you will need to
correct the windows local environment variables.

[Qgis-user] QGIS Python install

2016-10-07 Thread Tyler Veinot
All;
Trying to add some modules to python and I didn't want to have multiple
Python installs on my system; I would like to stick to the C:\Program
Files\QGIS 2.16\apps\Python27 but I keep getting Python is not a recognized
internal or external command, I get the same error when I try to install
packages with pip.
I was reading that the issue is the spaces in the C:\Program Files part,
has anyone had a similar issue and know of a fix/work around?
Thanks
