Re: [Qgis-user] Profiles in QGIS

2016-07-28 Thread Tyler Veinot
All;
Thanks for the info and presentations I will look into them this evening.
If there are projects related specifically to water and sewer I might be
able to squeeze some coin out of management to help support the project.

Saber;
Not looking at temporal datasets at this time, just looking to see the
profiles of our pipes (Water and Sewer) and manholes and where they are in
relation to other buried infrastructure; not to say we wouldn't like to get
into more robust capabilities in the future. Crayfish sounds pretty capable
I will certainly take a look.

Hi Tyler,

What type of 3D datasets are you working with? You mentioned sewer network, is
it related to the, for example, water depth/level in pipe or on the ground with
time element? If it is a temporal dataset of surface water you can probably
look into Crayfish plugin. It has its own profile tool, where the profile gets
updated as you browser through time.

2016-07-27 Thread Neumann, Andreas
Hi,

And there is also QGEP - a QGIS/Postgis based project for waste-water
network management.

See
https://www.qgis.ch/de/ressourcen/anwendertreffen/2016/qgep-status-update-2016
and the documentation at https://qgep.github.io/docs/index.html

It provides network following and an interactive profile view if your
data contains 3d information - see page 10 in
https://www.qgis.ch/de/ressourcen/anwendertreffen/2016/qgep-status-update-2016

However, you first have to migrate your data into the QGEP data
structure in a PostgreSQL database - which isn't trivial and probably a
substantial amount of work to do.

Greetings,

Andreas

Hi,
I recommend you talk with the person responsible for the Qgis2treejs. He
has a lot of features that are not yet documented (at least the last time I
used it). He may have a scale bar. That is a very good plugin.
I am still waiting for a good AutoCAD open source replacement also.
I see blender has been suggested and I use cloud compare. Thats good but
mainly for point cloud data.

like Esris profile viewer, been a long time since I used it so that might
not be the right name, where you draw a line, like a road centre line, and it
shows you a profile view of the geometries along that line. I think you could
even assign a width or buffer so that it would only return geometries within a
certain distance of the line. It basically showed it as a graph and required
very little processing power. Just trying to find something similar in QGIS or

You might want to look at Blender, at least from the data management aspect.
It’s also scriptable so can be used in a processing pipeline if needed.

I’m looking at the same sorts of visualization needs. Starting with a Pipe
profiler. We already have a visualizer in AutoCAD, and could build a profile
maker in there, but I looking at some Web options first.

Re: [Qgis-user] Profiles in QGIS

2016-07-27 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
There is a simple plugin called "profile tool" that works well with raster
data. For cleaning data, Grass has good topology tools in the processing
plugin.

Hi all; Anyone here use QGIS for a water and sewer utility that can
suggest some good plugins for; structuring, processing, and/or cleaning data?
Any plugin repositories that might be of interest to me? Also: Has anyone
worked with profile views in QGIS? I tried a few plugins for viewing 3D
datasets but I am interested to see what else is out there and/or is being
worked on. Currently tried GHydraulics, mmqgis, networks, qgis_epanet,
Qgis2threejs Thanks Tyler
