of the things we need to do is to create new shapefiles and edit them.
This worked in the preview 2 version, but in the final version, when
I try to create a new vector layer it causes the program to freeze.

In the preview 2 version of 0.8.0, I was really excited about the
ability to view WMS layers, and it worked great. Since then, I've
downloaded a bunch of different versions of the qgis-0.8.0.dmg
package, and still every time I try to add a WMS layer, it crashes.
Is this problem limited to
