I downloaded the calendar and it's quite good. Very minimal. And the
only one I've seen on the QL which calculates and displays bank
holidays. Quite clever, since bank holidays aren't fixed dates - they
are defined as, say, the last monday in August rather than the same
fixed date each year. I think that bank holidays for the various parts
of the British Isles are separately defined and not necessarily the
same in Scotland as in England for example. For anyone interested in
calendars (or calenders I guess) QL Today had a series called Clocking

Mainly it's inherently unsafe to use it on the internet. No IE user

It is difficult to extract URLs, as Copy shortcut dropdown has not
keyboard shortcut.
Firefox - right click | C
MSIE- right click | navigate | mouse click.

My WN work involves hosts of URL copying, and this saves a *lot* of time.

Marcel - what are mouse gestures?
Firefox has a host of essential user written extensions.
I could not do my WN work without Web Developer extensions.

Marcel - what are mouse gestures?

Essentially you hold the right button down while drawing small figures
with the mouse. This will be interpreted as different commands by the
browser, like open new tab, close tab, open in background etc.
Incredible effective way to give commands to the browser once you've
learned the small gestures.

Not using a mouse most of the time I cannot use them anymore. But
there remains one very important semi-gesture which is worth it alone.
Holding down the right button and shortly pressing the left button is
move back to last page. Accordingly holding the left and pressing
the right is move to next page. I probably use that hundreds of
times every day. No need to navigate to the back toolbar button or
change to the keyboard, just do it wherever you are.

Firefox has a host of essential user written extensions.

Yes, Firefox can do most things Opera can (= has copied features Opera
pioneered pretty well ;) using different extension, but Opera is the
better overall package as it does everything right out of the box.
Still Firefox is an okay browser, no question.

What's cool about Opera are the little details. E.g. everybody
probably knows the little search fields to quickly search something on
Google and a few other engines. But suppose you want to quickly access
the Wikipedia search as well. In that case you just open up the page,
right click on Wikipedia's search text field and select Create
search And voila, you got a new search engine to chose from.
Simple and elegant.

The Opera 6.04 [ free version ] that I am using says 2002, IE 6.0.29 [

So, one around 4 yrs old and the other around 2 yrs old.

I am also on dial up, not broadband, so speed deficiences show up more.

I often run them side by side, just see how each performs.

Also, for Geoff, Opera is often configured to identigfy itself as IE.
