Re: [Ql-Users] More BASIC Queries
Hi, As I have not resolved my initialisation problem with Smsq as yet, I thought I would try the following boot listing. My first problem is wth Qascade not working in Qdos. Does it have to have a Minerva rom, if so, how do I install it? My first problem is wth Qascade not working in Qdos. Does it have to have a Minerva rom, if so, how do I install it? Arnold Qascade is not the simplest of programs to set up, and there's two versions, Jonathan Hudson's original version and Marcel's hack for high colour systems (Marcel's version probably needs WIndow Manager 2, as well as high colour, I can't really remember) 1. Put all the Qascade files into their own directory, I use WIN1_QASCADE_ for both versions, but I've altered filenames of the executable. qascade is Marcel's version, qascade113 is Jonathan's version, which I use on QDOS systems like my Aurora and QemuLator. In other words, both versions can live in the same directory. 2. Set up a suitable qascade_rc file with the list of programs to control etc. 3. In your boot program you'll need something like this: 1470 EX win1_qascade_qascade;START win1_qascade_QASCADE_rc (Note than the bit in quotes with the START is case sensitive, If your qascade_rc is qascade_RC, you have to type it out as qascade_RC here) My experience has been that (1) if you get the case wrong or (2) make a mistake with the qascade_rc text file it doesn't work and doesn't tell you much about what went wrong. [Ql-Users] Problem: QPC2 + Vista + USB to Serial Adapter giving virtual COM2 mapped as SER2
Has anyone had any experience of using USB to serial port adapters with QPC2 under Vista? I have a Belkin adapter that gives me a COM port on my Sony VAIO laptop (which has no hardware COM ports). Using Q-emuLator I can access the virtual COM port as SER2 with no problem at all, but under QPC2 whatever settings I try I just get garbage coming across the connection. If it's an unsupported configuration, fair enough - but is there a setting I'm missing? Just to recap: SER2 is mapped to COM2 in the QPC2 settings, COM2 is actually a virtual COM port under Vista, provided by a Belkin USB to Serial adapter. I can open port SER2 in QPC2, but any attempt to send data across it results in data that looks very similar to the wrong parity setting, except it isn't. Under Q-emuLator, no problem. I knew there'd be problems as soon as they switched on that damned Large Hadron Collider again! ;) Thanks for reading, Adrian ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm

If you find one please let me know.# Duncan IIRC There was a way of changing the resolution of the way of the Qx0 in order to properly use an LCD display. It had to be done in hardware, but you should contact Peter for that. I don't know if he still has the parts to do it. I don't recall much else I am sorry. Greetings, My last CRT SVGA monitor just died (HV transformer fried: no hope of repair) and my current LCD monitor is unable to display the Q40/Q60 resolution (1024x512) properly (it apparently tries to interpolates the 1024 columns into 640 and it displays only the first 480 lines). Is anyone using a recent (must be available for sale now in shops) LCD monitor able to properly display the Q40/Q60 screens ? Many thanks in advance !
