Regarding the internals of a QXL.WIN disk, I documented that at http://qdosmsq.dunbar-it.co.uk/doku.php?id=qdosmsq:fs:qlwa there's a table at the end with host file sizes and the resulting internal block size. This allows for files to be up to 2^^32 -1 bytes in size, in theory. It all depends if the internals of SMSQ etc deal in signed or unsigned numbers. 2^^32 - is big! 4,096 Mb or 4 Gb. Hi, I have used a 1GiB file w/o problems. I may be wrong, but I dimly remember somebody telling me they use a 2 GiB long QXL.Win container. The fact to be aware of is that these containers can always, at the most, deals with 65536 clusters, as the number of clusters (called groups in SMSQE speak) occupies a word. That means that, for a 2GB "disk", each cluster would occupy 64 sectors = 32KiB. Seems quite a waste in view of the generally limited size of QL files... HTH Wolfgang ___ QL-Users Mailing List
