There are two known problems with DM5.
When started it complains about the date.
Use ESC to ignore it. Don't try to fix the date, it will produce an error.

It also uses some FileInfo2 keywords: FEX, FEX_W, FEXF, FEX_W(), FEXF(),
FEX$.
These conflict with SMSQ/E and are possibly switched off in your FI2 and
while the replacements FI2_CALL can be used.

So if DM5 tries to use FEX it cannot be found.

My way around this was to patch the keywords to FFX in both DM5 and FI2
and switch them on again. Hopefully no other tool uses the old keywords
and no tool uses this new keyword.
Sadly the FI2 database is part of the same _bin so this patch needs to be
done to the current _bin or the whole extensions database needs to be done
again.

Hm, I haven't done any QL programming since 1997 when I wrote a Jeopary game
to use in my class. I worked as a teacher for 6 years, and the game Jeopardy
was a big hit on TV. My students loved it. I wrote a program to control input
from two joysticks and keep records of who pressed the button first. I asked a
question and the fastest one could answer. The program counted points and so
on. I had an Atari computer with the QL emulator in my classroom.

I'm not sure my wife agree I spend more time on computers than I already do :-)

I left the QL back in 1994 I think. It's a shame I have no backups of

I have tried Marcel's version on my QPC2 and it works fine here except for
an error when I try to do a directory on my WIN1_ with the full tree when
I get a string not numeric. Hmmm shame the sources are not available.

My guess Marcel is that you have another toolkit loaded which redefines
SORT.

Maybe you should try loading the extensions_cde AFTER you have loaded all
your boot files.
The various keywords used by the program are quite clear towards the end,
so that might help you spot a conflict on your system.

Q_ERR_ON

Now that is a nasty one - unless, it relates to a keyword which is
missing. After all, Q_ERR_ON only expects one type of parameter - a list
(?) of procedures and functions which should be monitored for error
returns. Now, all the keywords for QLib appear towards the end IIRC, so
might be worth casting an eye over the list - if you want to email me a

It is indeed very nice to hear from any of the QL software writers who

There have been quite a lot of developments to the original QL over the

I found this mail list and I guess there are still some QL users out

 anyone using Disk Mate?

I actually bought it from you at a meeting (don't remember which) but don't
use it any more.

Nice to hear from you! I'm sorry, but I do no longer have the source
code for DM5, so I guess it's impossible to make DM5 work with extended

Domain.
Shame about that. I think it is a very useful program
I left the QL back in 1994 I think. It's a shame I have no backups of
the old stuff, because I still have an Atari TT with the SMSQE-card,
but no software. The TT was given away in 95 I think, but I was offered
it back last year. I have not even turned in on yet.
You can of course now run QL stuff on a PC with QPC2 and that has SMSQ/E
which has improved immensely since '94 You can get the demo from

Actually it's not that much of a problem as you use the standard QPAC2
window scheme. For that I have developed tools that can do most of the
conversion automatically on existing binaries. After that only a few
manual fixups needed to also make use of the new sprites. If anybody
can send me the latest release I see what I can do.
