Speaking as a Jock in exile, I can honestly say that I have never seen a deep fried Mars bar, in batter or otherwise,  anywhere but in the deepest darkest county of England. Further south from where I am, a deep fried Creme Egg is De rigeur. Yuk. DFMBS are available here in Leeds aplenty.
