Thanks for all the feedback - wow, that is VERY fast indeed! :-)

The paper was difficult to get hold of - a trend colour - didn't
really want to repeat any of the colours we have had in the past
16 issues.

no, renewal is for the upcoming Volume 17. Current issue was issue 4 of
volume 16. Just as I wrote: sometimes the post takes longer, sometimes
it is very fast - all issues have been sent out and should arrive next
week, if they have not arrived last week.

Ah, that would explain why I didn't get a reply. I sent it to jmerz (at)

I sent it to Marcel at the same time and I know he received it as I have

Hi All,

thanks for the great feedback. I am pleased to read that the delivery
was extremely fast again, like the last few times (I remember that the
last time where it took longer to arrive at some destinations was
December 2010).

Thanks also for some early renewals - very quick :-)
I have had some server issues which did not allow me to update the web
site contents - but that's fixed. I have updated the SMSQ homepage ...
so you can place your renewals online through the SSL form, if you like:

http://smsq.j-m-s.com/

Thanks again for your support - please remember: Vienna is coming up in
June and we will try hard to have the next issue ready for the event ...

so please send us your articles, reviews, letters etc. as soon as possible.

Best regards Jochen

This is totally off topic, but worth telling.

The best two typos I ever made were in the same document. It was way back
during my probation days when we had to use typewriters and stencils
(remember those).

I had prepared a summary of a government Probation Salaries report for the
trade union/professional association.

Improved starting points for probation officers

appeared as

Improved starting pints for probation officers

and

Staffing problems not due to bad management

appeared as

Staffing problems not due to bed management

It did wonders for recruitment!

the SHIPPING was scheduled mid of Dec so many of you received it earlier
than the shipping date :-)

I remember complaints from some countries last year and the year before
that the post took 2 or 3 weeks to arrive (but then it was shipped closer
to Xmas).

It was not just a question of postage, but that was unbelievably fast.

We enjoyed putting this issue together although there was probably more work
than usual as a lot of copy came in at the last minute. We particularly
liked the wide variety of topics - its shows how lively the QL community
still is.

The weekend of 3rd/4th December was really hectic. We had a choice of
posting that week or waiting until just before Christmas. The QL Today team
took up the challenge and I don't think we have ever done such a quick
proofread. We finished on Tuesday 6th, went to press on the 7th and some
readers had their copies by the 9th.

Thanks to everybody,

Best Wishes,

Geoff

None for met yet.
... unless German is not normally used for the month - Dez on the front cover.

but after a second read:

Independant on p21 shoudl be Independent - but that is Bruce's error.

p45:
after you placed your order should be ... after you have placed your
order
Multiplying with should be Multiplying by.

p46 - a visit of the Tramway museum should be ... a visit to the
Tramway museum.

Jochen - that is unfair of me. You should see my German (8-)#

... well it wouldn't be in character if I didn't check would it.

Not at all. You learn from your mistakes. The more the merrier!

I realised too late there was a factual error. On page 46 a reference to the
2009 Quanta AGM should have been 2010.

I was mischievously delighted to read in Tony's mail about Independant and
Independent. John Gregory always enjoyed pointing out to me that I was the
author of Style-Check and I frequently confused the two. Nice to know that
someone else does it as well,

Hi Peter,

seems to be - you all issues except the ones to Germany were mailed
at the same time, same post office (of course).
March and June issues seemed to have arrived quickly at all
destinations.

I still don't think the Austrian post office stores the issues for
different times before they get delivered to the various countries -
the earlier they get them over the border, the earlier they have
space again (at least that sounds logical to me).

Anyway, I am sure it will arrive in the UK sooner (and hopefully not
too much later).

I think the problem could well be in the UK. I believe I am right in
saying that all overseas mail goes through Mount Pleasant sorting
office in London and it is notorious for its problems,

Best Wishes,

Geoff

Hello François,

great! I am glad all the mags arrive now :-)

However, I had more feedback from subscribers who received them BEFORE
xmas. It really depends on the DELIVERING post, not on the Austrian
post (well, there's no point in them piling the letters somewhere
instead of handing them over to the delivery postal service).

I also had a REGISTERED letter from France which took exactly 4 weeks to
arrive ... amazing!
