on the ql-users list so here's another attempt. Can anyone help him?

Subject: Conblock

This neat system was manufactured to BSS5733 by Elkay until some time in the
90s. Usually the block had sockets for 4 plugs and was moulded, like the
plugs, in white polycarbonate but there could also have been socket blocks for
6 or perhaps even more plugs. Max rating was 13A for the block and 6A at 250VAC
for the plug. The 4-socket Conblock is about 5 7/8" x 1 7/8" x 7/8" (149mm x
45mm x 22mm and has a neon power indicator and a cable grip. It can be used on
a cable to a 13A plug or bolted to equipment or fixed to a wall or bench.
Plugs are 1 7/16" x 1" x 5/8" (36mm x 25mm x 16mm max) with 3 pins (centre
earth) 0.082" (2 mm) diameter. Being 4mm longer than the other two the earth
pin enters the socket first and displaces a shield before the L and N pins can
be slip into their contacts.

Apparently identical plugs and sockets were also made by Micromark and a
4-socket set with plugs was on sale in a local B&Q a few years ago for under
£10. Yes I should have bought a few.

The Conblock is a perfect way of getting mains power to the items that make up
a computer "workstation".

My main QL is so connected and I have a spare 4-socket block and one spare
plug; if I could obtain about a dozen plugs and another Conblock I should be
able to save some space and remove several 13A plugs and socket strips in
setting up QL#2 and the desktop PC. I think this would be an attractive system
for any computer user.

The Euro plug C40?) is about the same size as the Conblock plug and a 4- or
6-socket block to fit (if it exists) would be as neat; but we may need leads
with one of these plugs at each end to power our computers, monitors etc, if
such an object did not offend the philosophy of our regulation masters (female
plug at each end - what confusion!)

Any suggestions ?
