Yes, the web server on my Q60 it is not up all the time , I use it for different
personal purposes and

platform as far as I can see.
Last but not least as you can see I definitively moved to Q60 to read and send
Ciao,
Backups:
For the backup of data there are different way to achieve the goal :
- use a second HD, I have a 2nd HD of 40 GB that i use for both Linux and
SMSQ/e, it is mounted on a removable bay, so I can move it from the Q60 to
the Q40
- easy and relatively cheap , you can use an IDE CF
I need some advice : i am trying to read a DOS fat formatted disk from smsq(q60), in
particular a compact flash card .
The question is : does the little endian to big endian conversion regard only the byte
order or also the bit order ?
I have in particular the problem in reading the strings,

Again,
It should be clear that I am not an expert on this matter , i do not have any special expertise .
Just one think , I have as my "hobby" to play with QL and its derivatives.
I bought a QL in '84, then I boughteverything related to it : egGoldCard, QXl etc etc . I have all the emulator etc,
I Post the a message like this to ql-developers, but the list do not seems
working at the moment.
I am improving a little my q60 for the next Italian meeting and this is
what I did :
- I bought a new dual channel ide controller card from Cables online for the
Q60, and it works ! Now I have

I know it is not very usefull, but I use sernet (2.25) between the WinXP PC
with QPC and the Q60, and between the same PC and the original QL and
everything is working perfectly.
As a cable between the PC and Q60 I use a standard serial cable

What I can say is that I run continuosly my Q40 with Linux and apache web server without any problem (at least visible) ,but honestly I never opened thecabinet to test the CPU temperature.
Also the Q60 sometimes remain switched on for long period (48 hours)without consequences and i do not
I sent a mail on this respect, but i did not see it , so i will repeat it, please ignore the old one if will arrive.

I want me too one of this 4 IDE card for my Q60, I have already one in my Q40
Ciao,
I have the same problems like you with Sandisk brand CF both on Q60 and Q40. Kodak and Pretec CF works perfectly although . The symptons are the same : wrong format, file disappear after a reset etc.
This under SMSQ , but if you want to test the validity of your CF setup you should try with

Phoebus,
smsqe 2.99 Q60 (not qpc) version had a problem with
sprite cache that affect Cueshell and others.
A fix exist (the new spcch_asm) but I think it is

distribution.(Wolfgang?)
I can confirm you that in the update version Cueshell
work perfectly.

Did any one succeed to recompile SMSQ/E for a Q40 so

Yes I did , but I am using the first released version
of sources with win1 instead of dev devices.
Time by time I apply the patches .
I merged the two file make_bas and flp_bas and
Malcom,
I normally use POV with QPC and Q60 and there is
nothing strange , POV works great with both platform.
I am just collecting a lot of wonderfull images and
soon or later I will distribute it, the pity is that
to render a complex image is taking a lot of time (10
to 30 hours).
The POV
POV does NOT write directly to the screen, it open a
scr channel and write there, does not write directly
to the screen location !!
You do not have to do basically nothing different to
have POV working on QPC or on Q60 , I doubt you have
an old version.
This is my setup :

Phoebus,
here you can find what you need :

Inside the cd you will find all the instruction to
install it.
Let me know if you need
Tony ,
I have the same configuration as you for my personal
web pages :
- ADSL via a TCP/IP Router with Firewall
- Dynamic Ip and DNS provided by www.dyndns.org
- Shoestring Linux with Apache Web server

Better , don't you ?

No idea, I have 2 other different Eth cards in Q40 and
Q60 and works ok, as far as the card is NE2000
compatible should be ok.
Are you starting from Shoestring Linux or the previous
version ?
In the previous Linux version you need to add some
specific lines in modules.dep to be sure that linux
I forgot a statement :
Crib work using my copy of QPC 3.03, I taken it from
the list loaded with
- a=respr(32976)
- lbytes ram1_crib,a
and saved back with :
- sexec ram1_crib_exe,a,32976,1
And it run quite well
