If you are going to do an English version (including manual), and it
sounds as if your program deserves that, then do run it though an
English speaker. Even someone who has no idea of the technicalities can
sort most of it out.

My program has, in this case, minor importance. The interesting thing
of the article is to know the possibilities of some programs like
Photoshop or The Gimp to be able to get all the benefit to them and to
obtain results that can be exported to the QL.

I will try to put a version of the article in English, but surely he
will be dificult understandable using an automatic translator.
That is what I am saying. Ask an English speaker to correct the
English. That should be easy even if they have little knowledge of what
it does.

Phoebus could do it in at -least- three languages (American included)
(8-)#

wow! Phoebus, -Just a joke- I hope that you are not a compulsive
talkative speak-man. :)
... well he is not known as a shy retiring person.
I -know- he speaks English and American. I haven't actually heard it,
but I bet he speaks Greek quite well too (8-)#
(and from an earlier age than three - see below)

This subject of the language remember me a joke. We had a culture
minister does few years in my country that was something simple (not
very intelligent). Somebody said a joke on her that it said thus: The
minister have return of his trip to Germany and have assure surprise:
we must learn of the German people, -she said- there, all the young,
already speak perfect German from the 3 year of age
(8-)#

-All- of us are good linguists in at least -one- language of course,
except your culture minister possibly (8-)#

Mind you I was born in Wales and my mother was Welsh, but I don't speak
a word. .. but I did leave as a baby. Half of my mother's family
came from Spain a few generations back.

Well done with what looks like a really good program.
It is VERY good indeed :-). The perl script may be a tad difficult to
follow (except for Tim Swenson, Tony Firshman and Rich Mellor of
course; all three -I have on good authority- are native speakers. We
shouldn't forget that Tony especially ACTUALLY speaks it (in his
sleep) - especially on long trips on Saab 900s with crazy Greeks -that

Heeehheee
he he indeed.
On the journey down from Indiana to Florida this year, Phoebus
single-handed kept us awake.

... and he is not far wrong about talking perl in my sleep. I use this
language (mainly for the regexps) to program article collection for
worldnews.com and some problems certainly have been solved overnight,
seemingly while asleep.

I must have a look at JHs QL pert porting.

Yes

ISSN numbers are free and available from the
British Library, the are given to magazines and are what the bar

I can't remember how Jochen got the ISSN number originally. I think
Bruce had an input somewhere, perhaps that was from his QReview mag

 know it's not Toady!
1351-1343=QReview

Is Quanta's non ISSN number status linked to

Re: [ql-users] Re: QL2005

2004-11-14 Thread Roy wood
Just to put another issue into the mix here, John Mason called me last
week and asked if I would organise the 2005 Hove show so it could be
the AGM. I have looked into dates for this that would fit Quanta's
schedule and I am preparing to book the hall for 17th April.

This may have some bearing on the likely date for QL 2005 so I thought I
should let you all know now. I would also welcome input from any traders
would have a problem with that date.

I realise it is hard to firmly predict where one will be at a set date
in the future because, in spite of my agreeing the Byfleet date some
time ago, I find that I have to be in Chepstow on that day doing a
diving exam. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for my
absence. This is the first Byfleet show I have missed in the 10 years
of QBranch's existence.

If Quanta cannot organise the QL2005 why don't we do it ourselves and
charge a small admission fee?

Many years ago on my way to Spain (my first time 1988) I remember calling
in on Tony to pick up a Spanish eprom for the QL.

I was surprised that as soon as I crossed over the border that a rusty
Italian came to the surface having lain unused for 30 years. So similar,
but so different.

A few weeks in to acquire a smattering of Desperanto !
