Re: [ql-users] use of new system sprites from C68?

2004-09-14 Thread James Hunkins
Just did several different combinations with your array suggestion,
including different pointer methods and all give me the red 'X' sprite.
I am sure that it is something very simple that I am missing so if you
do get a chance to dig up a sample of your working code, I would really
appreciate it. Trying to add the new system icons into QDT.

Cheers,
jim

Has anyone used the new system sprites from C68? This would be using
it in the window definition which was originally a pointer to a
sprite file.
I have tried it by defining 2 bytes such as:
unsigned short test_sprite = 0x0008;[ byte 0 = 0x00 for a
system sprite
0x08 for the sprite number ]
and then doing a pointer to its address from the proper loose item
field:
test_sprite,
If I point to one of the normal sprites (with byte 0 = 0x01) I get
the expected sprite. But when I do the above all I get is a red 'X'
sprite, no matter what sprite number I use.
Any ideas? If someone has used the new system sprites, could you
supply sample code and instructions?
I think I did use the system sprite from C68.
I used an array of char instead of a short... It did work, or so I
believe.

I would have to dig that code if you do not get a better answer.

[ql-users] use of new system sprites, C68 or assembly

2004-04-19 Thread James Hunkins
I want to implement the new system sprites in QDT. Do I need to make
up new sprites data structures to access these (as per the new sprite
format documentation) or are the structures already available for C68
and/or assembly somewhere?

Thanks for the help,
jim

Re: [ql-users] C68 - assembler and web site link problems

2004-04-18 Thread James Hunkins
Thanks Dave!

A few more problems as I looked around, the GD2 LIBC routines link is
broken. Also, for the linker LD, the link on the header was OK but the
link for the binaries gave me ld2bin.zip (instead of ldqdos.zip).

Did get the files and tried updating the libc_a. Unfortunately, it
does compile now and link but the program doesn't start. Will retry
with a clean install tomorrow.

Jim,

I thought most of the links on the site were now fixed - but you were
right
that one was wrong as the files were missing. They are now there.

I was trying to get an updated copy of AS68 (the assembler for C68)
from Dave Walker's website but the links for most of the accessory
files are broken. Dave, assuming that you are reading this list, are
you aware of this problem?
In the meantime, can someone forward me a copy of AS68. I understand
that it should be up to at least rev 2.0 or later? I need it to use
the new C68 libraries for the SMSQ/E hi color, etc. stuff.
Thanks,
jim

Dave,

Here are a few more broken links:

   updates section

make: binary
cc Compiler front-end : binary
cpp PreProcessor : binary
GD2 LIBC Routines
GNU Diff v.4 : binary
I only ran through the basic ones I wanted to grab for a clean
reinstall and update. There may be others.

[ql-users] Tony - US Show

2004-04-16 Thread James Hunkins
Sorry guys, but need to borrow this to get a message to Tony before he
leaves.

Tony, the hub I was planning to bring is not functional so I won't have
a hub with me. I will bring the long ethernet cable plus a shorter
one. Hopefully this catches you in time to pack a hub along.

See you (and everyone else coming to the US show) next weekend!

Guys,

I haven't had any problems posting to this list. In fact, I usually
see my postings within a few minutes. I would suspect that you are
all hitting issues with different providers/routings and not so much
with the list. I saw the discussion about providers blocking common
spam sources which is a very common practice (unfortunately but needed
for now).

What happened to all the G5's you were supposed to order :)

I can't wait to get the Virtual PC running on my dual G5 so that I can
run QPC on it using a 20 panel! Talk about being able to quickly
clutter up an oversize desktop (referring to my upcoming QDT!).

By the way, has anyone ever stopped to question why you need 64 bit
3.2G processing power to run a word processor or spreadsheet fast?

Does any one have access to broadband networking and a camera, using
either Apple's iChat or AOL's new version of the AIM messenger version,
who would like to try doing a live video chat - talking about QL stuff
of course. Too bad that we probably won't see this on the QL systems
:)

Just let me know and we can exchange iChat/AIM addresses.
