depends on your OS...i am using OpenBSD so mine is located at /etc/rc.local. for redhat, there is a script that came with qmail called svscan. I was able to put it in my /etc/rc.d/init.d. it can be stopped, started, or restarted by invoking /etc/rc.d/init.d/svscan stop|start|restart. check
