iam new to qmail MTA server.
in our office they are using qmail MTA server installed in Centos Linux
server.
Problem:
My mail client (outlook express) takes more time to download the mail the
from qmail linux server.
please guide me to solve the problem.

It shouldn't. I just did a test with my 1.2.9 and it uses
.qmail-first:lastname. It's been that way for a long time.
