Hi,
We use qmailtoaster on a centos 5.5 server. We have only
about 200 user accounts and yet the showusers (list accounts)
is very slow. It looks like the disk usage is calculated
in real time. This will be very slow when users have a lot
of email files.
Is there a way to avoid
The email messages all have the very tight permission 600.
We have many group accounts whose messages need to be
readable by all. Is there a way to set permission to 644
somewhere in qmailtoaster? Since the /home/user is
already protected with 700, I am not concerned about
privacy or security
we want. We want such
error emails to be readable by all, on the nfs client machine.
Thanks
Richard

I don't get it. Why do you want to change permission?
What do you mean by group accounts?

Those are archived (local) files on the servers and therefore
are not available via imap because these servers are web servers
and not email servers. In other words, they are created by
qmail client with email addrs like local_user-all@localmachine.
We just want these email files to be accessible
We have noticed that when the number of imapd processes reaches
about 120, no further connections are possible. We have already
changed the connection limits in /etc/courier/imapd:
MAXDAEMONS=640
MAXPERIP=500
The server load is very load and there are no disk i/o issue when
this happens.
