Aliases are stored in MySQL and can be managed with the valias command
from cmd line.
But what about forwards created for an existing account via qmailadmin?
I thought that would create a .qmail file but just tested it and I
found I was wrong. So where is the forward data stored?

so with more comprehensive debugging in the hopes of solving this

1) In the mean time you can disable simscan completely by replacing

I disable the Simscan according to your suggestion, I no longer have the
error and the users are receiving their emails.

x86_64 and x86, depending on your setup, with error messaging in place:
