Chandran:

Just a long shot but check your dovecot settings in the /etc/dovecot/
directory and make sure SSL encryption is optional - not required. Also,
dovecot would be looking for an SSL certificate. We always point that
setting to the SSL certificates at /var/qmail/control/servercert.pem.
And although complicated to setup we get our mailserver certs from Lets
Encrypt.

Hi Manikandan

I guess the error message comes from your mail client. In that case,
this means that your client is not set up to use TLS when connecting to
mail server.

[qmailtoaster] qmail-remote error: SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3

2018-12-20 Thread Tommi Järvilehto

Sending mail I get these errors now for some remote servers:

TLS connect failed: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3
alert handshake failure; connected to 195.156.147.12.
I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

I thought the latest Toaster should support this. Or must I enable SSLv3
back for qmail-remote somewhere?

rpm -qa | grep qmail

qmailmrtg-4.2-3.qt.el7.x86_64

Just tried the new version and simscan still throws up the soft reject
error, so that did not, in fact, fix the problem.

[qmailtoaster] ClamAV Compilation Error

2017-03-03 Thread Sean Murphy

Good afternoon all,

I'm running qmailtoaster plus on a CentOS 5 machine and stared to notice
qmail doing qq soft rejects on incoming mail. Checked the clamd log and
it was full of error messages :

 * LibClamAV Error: cli_pcre_build: failed to build pcre regex
 * LibClamAV Error: cli_pcre_compile: PCRE compilation failed at offset
   52: unrecognized character after (?<

I stopped clamav, moved the database files and ran freshclam. This
solved the issue temporarily but it started again after a few minutes of
normal operation. I disabled clam in simscan, then ran a recompile and
normal mail flow resumed.

This is going on for a number of people, it's popped up on the clamav
users mailing list:

 * http://lists.clamav.net/pipermail/clamav-users/2017-March/004169.html
 * http://lists.clamav.net/pipermail/clamav-users/2017-March/004164.html

Anyone else seeing this?

Re: [qmailtoaster] Bad attachment error

2015-11-27 Thread Eric Broch
So, if I understand you correctly, the only domain that fails, from
which you send doc and docx attachments to your QMT is gmail, correct?
If, perhaps, I was to send you a doc or docx attachment from my email
address you'd receive it with no problems?

Noriyuki,

1) Why are you creating source and binary on CentOS 6 with the --with
cnt5064 (CentOS 5) option?
2) Why are you creating CentOS 6 source and binary with a CentOS 5 spec
file?
3) You can also get rid of the --target x86_64 option if you're
already on an x86_64 architecture, right?

For CentOS 6 you need this RPM that has been tailored for it by Eric

Thank you for your advice.
I did not know the qt.src version.
As you know that I checked spec file then there is no cnt6064 route.
So, I tried cnt5064 by the way.
This was easy way, I just change the Buildrequire... etc.
Anyway I will try to use qt.src.rpm
Other SRPMS has many modified for Japanese.

Hey Andy,

It looks like some repo and/or packages failed to install, probably EPEL
or RepoForge (repos) and MySQL (package). Try running the following

qt-install-epel
qt-install-repoforge

What is the listing of /etc/yum.repos.d?

Re: [qmailtoaster] Qmaintoaster-plus error

2015-06-23 Thread Eric Broch
The standard is CentOS 6 presently.

I have CentOS 7 ready to test using one of the two the following procedures:

For testing on CentOS 7:
method 1
1) Install CentOS 7 minimal install (I install both options under
minimal install. One is development tools and I can't remember the other).
2) curl
ftp://ftp.whitehorsetc.com/pub/qmail/CentOS7/qmt/scripts/qt_prep.sh
qt_prep.sh
3) sh qt_prep.sh (Automatic reboot)
4) sh qt_install.sh

Due to the current nature of the way QMT/COS7 is updated--not by a repo
but manually--I found it necessary to add the following 3 lines to
/etc/yum.conf so that standard QMT packages are not over written when

The qmailtoaster-plus is no longer maintained. If this is a fresh
install move to CentOS 6 and install as follows:

 Installation Instructions (pre-wiki)
 .) install CentOS minimal
 # curl
 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/QMailToaster/qmailtoaster-util/master/qt-bootstrap-1
 qt-bootstrap-1
 # sh qt-bootstrap-1
 (system will reboot)
 # curl
 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/QMailToaster/qmailtoaster-util/master/qt-bootstrap-2
 qt-bootstrap-2
 # sh qt-bootstrap-2
 # qt-install
 (script will complete the installation)

If you want updates for CentOS 5, I have them here:
 ftp://ftp.whitehorsetc.com/pub/qmail/CentOS5/qmt/rpms/x86_64/

Be mindful that I haven't installed the latest Dovecot on a production
machine, but I have installed the latest Spamassassin (3.4.1) and
ClamAV in (98.7) in a production environment.

Should the 'stock' QMT include logwatch? What do y'all think? If so, is
there any configuration to be done?

During the installation of QMail (including QMT), there should have been

The command:

the static link here.

Essentially, all *nix mail systems have hidden dependencies on the
granddaddy of all mail programs: *sendmail*. In fact, if your program
sends mail and DOESN'T have such a hidden dependency, you've done
something wrong. :)

In the case of QMail (and postfix, and many others), the sendmail
program is nothing more than an interpreter that takes sendmail syntax
and makes it work in QMail (or postfix, or many others... you get the idea).

Your logwatch will be fine and happy if you execute the command above...

The utilities are in the bind-utils package. You should leave this
installed regardless of which resolver is being used.

You can remove bind with
# yum remove bind
The package name is bind, but the service name is named. Sort of ironic
that a package dealing with names has rather peculiar ones. ;)

The nmap report shows that SOMETHING is already listening on port 53

written as 127.0.0.1:53 so as not to confuse you into thinking that ALL
of 127.0.0.1 was in use).

Typically, COS comes with a BIND installation -- so you will need to, at
a minimum, turn that off:
*chkconfig named off ; service named stop*
Then try starting your pdns recursor

If that solves the problem, then you can get rid of bind altogether
(although, there are a number of DNS utilities that I personally like to
have, so I personally keep BIND on the server, even if I am running a
pdns recursor instead of BIND). Still, if you must, you can remove BIND
with:
*yum erase named

--tim

I'm not sure I understand. There should be no SMTP authentication
failure once a message has entered the system. Only clients should get
that, and it should happen before a message enters. There should be no
bounces with this error.

It would be helpful to see an example, complete with headers (redacted
where you must). This would show how the messages originated and was
relayed (Email forensics if you will).

The only way I can think of this happening is if a message got in
through an open or compromised relay. I've seen this happen with Yahoo
accounts in the past, but they didn't have failure notice messages that
I recall.

I'm not sure how you'd differentiate these from legitimate failure
notices. The message headers might provide a way. With Sieve you could
probably examine the headers for a legitimate authenticated submission
header, and discard it if that doesn't exist. Unfortunately, it'll be
several months before we have server-side sieve filtering.

You could probably write some maildrop rules to do this as well, but
maildrop is being deprecated in favor of sieve. Also, all client
messages don't go through maildrop by default. You'd need to set up
something custom for that along the same lines as spambox.

In the meantime you could probably filter these messages with a custom
filter on TBird or perhaps Outlook. Not a nice solution though.

Sorry there's presently no server-side solution for this. Having SPF and
DKIM set up might help, but I'd look for Sieve to provide the long term
solution. Server side filtering is a feature I'm greatly looking forward to.

Hmmm. I don't understand how the lack of that module could have caused
that error.

In any case, the module *is* required. It's included in the
qtp-dependencies script, which qtp-newmodel uses. qtp-newmodel is the
preferred method of installing these days, as the other scripts have not
been maintained for some time, nor will be in the future.

Sorry for the confusion, Rajesh. I know that there is still some

Hi,

vqadmin has old config.guess and config.sub files do not have the
definitions for the 64 bit operating systems. You can copy those files

from a recent vpopmail release and it should configure just fine.

I honestly don't know how SM interfaces with authentication. I wouldn't
expect it to use authdaemond (part of courier-authlib?) to change
passwords though if it doesn't use it to log in.

Have you tried setting authdaemond up and see if it works then?

[qmailtoaster] QMT Build Error FC8 (yuk!)

2012-01-30 Thread Dan McAllister

Greetings QMTers...

It's my turn today to ask a question and fish the goldmine of experts

I have a client system that had a filesystem error and upon reboot his

The difficult part here is that the client's system is Fedora Core 8

OK, so here's the snippet of the error log -- I honestly know BOO-SQUAT

[qmailtoaster] Re: FW: Error in POP3 over SSL

2012-01-25 Thread Eric Shubert
As another option, you might try using dovecot for pop3/pop3s services
instead of qmail-pop3. I haven't yet done so myself (mostly imap users
here), but I seem to recall someone here saying that they're using it
w/out any problem.

If anyone is using dovecot for pop3, would you chime in here please?
This certainly needs to be put though its paces before we get to the
point of having a stock dovecot package for QMT, which is something
fairly high up on my list. ;)

that again.

The most common reason for this error is that the pop3 server isn't
being given enough RAM when it starts up to be able to run the SSL/TLS
  encryption/decryption.

CD into your /var/qmail/supervise/pop3-ssl/ folder and edit the file
  named *run*.

You'll see a line (or an entry) called softlimit -m ##

All you need to do is raise the softlimit value. Given that I run
systems with 8 or 16 GB of RAM MINIMUM, I have taken to adding a 0 to
the end (grin -- essentially increasing the RAM limit for the pop3-ssl
  [or imap-ssl] by a factor of 10!)

You can play with the number until you find a number high enough / low
enough -- or you can fix it with a sledge hammer like I do -- that
choice is yours. However, I suggest the sledge hammer at first to verify
that this is indeed the issue.

Hi Eric.

I have been using Dovecot for pop3 for some time now (since version 1.2

recall somebody wrote a 'how to', that took You through the changes from
qmail-pop3 and IMAP to dovecot . If I'm not wrong it was Amit and
Aleksander Podsiadly who wrote the notes I did use back in 2009.

[qmailtoaster] SpamdykeFalse DENIED_SENDER_NO_MX error?

It appears that I may be, at least on occasion, having the following
problem that Eric discovered here:

http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.mail.spam.spamdyke.user/3106

Today it is affecting google's gmail servers:

2011-04-28 12:23:13.290273500 spamdyke[11358]: ERROR: DNS response for

On the particular server that's having this trouble, I'm running spamdyke
4.1.0.

It appears from the above that this trouble was discovered after the
release of the current 4.2.0 version (release Feb 11) of spamdyke.

Does anyone know if this also affects version 4.1.0, and if so, how to
bypass this without compromising security until a corrective update is
released?

It's definitely not affecting the 4.0.10 version of spamdyke that I have
running on another qmailtoaster server as the mx lookups for the above
domain are having no trouble there.

Thanks,

http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/QMT-ISO_Manual_Guide#SquirrelMail

The undefined index notices are because the script has not checked if
the $_POST variables in question had been set, and initialised them
accordingly. It's quite common, and won't cause any problems.

Your php error reporting seems to include notices. Try changing it to
error_reporting = E_ALL  ~E_NOTICE in your php.ini. Restart apache
after that, and see if the errors still appear.

The notice on line 10 of admin.inc.php is to do with the fopen
statement. It should read $fd = fopen ( $file, 'r' ) instead of $fd =
fopen ( $file, r ). PHP has made the correct assumption in this case and
literally translated it to 'r'. Again, not an issue in this case, but
you can make the substitution if you desire.

[qmailtoaster] Re: autoreply error

2010-12-29 Thread Eric Shubert

On 12/28/2010 09:02 PM, Hwee Ling wrote:

Hi, Eric,

Thanks for replying me via PM. I had brought our conversation to the ML.

I am referred by Cecil regarding an issue with autoreply running on
Webmin/Virtualmin and qmail.

Everytime, the user receive an email, there will be an error in the log.

@40004d11c7482ee08e94 delivery 7243: deferral:

sh:_-c:_line_0:_unexpected_EOF_while_looking_for_matching_`'/sh:_-c:
_line_1

:_syntax_error:_unexpected_end_of_file/

At times, the user will get many duplicate emails.

Is there a solution or work around?

snip

I suspect there might be a problem with the user's .qmail file, which
specifies delivery.

The .qmail is like this

./Maildir/
|/etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl
|/home/www/miltrade.com.sg/autoreply-eric.txt eric
|/var/virtualmin-autoreply/12762307171957-autoreply-eric.txt

With QMT, the .qmail file with a vacation message looks like this:
/home/vpopmail/domains/shubes.net/chuck/Maildir/
| /usr/bin/autorespond 86400 3
/home/vpopmail/domains/shubes.net/chuck/vacation/message
/home/vpopmail/domains/shubes.net/chuck/vacation

While a shupp toaster is similar to QMT in many ways, it looks as though
your shupp toaster does things substantially differently in this area.
It also appears that webmin is coming into play, which I suspect is
where your problem lies, likely in the autoreply.pl module. It would be
very difficult for anyone here to help you fix this.

In the short term, you might look for a syntax error in your
autoreply.pl script. I'm not positive that's where the error is, but
it's a good starting point.

In the long term, I recommend planning to migrate your server to QMT.
This would not be very difficult, given that mail on a shupp toaster is
stored in much the same way. You'll have much better reliability and
support in the future by doing so.
