Re: [Qt-jambi-interest] 4.7 beta released

2010-09-06 Thread Helge Fredriksen
Dear Emeric,

Great to hear success stories :-)

Well, I think it's actually based on the beta2 release of 4.7, but as
soon as 4.7 final is out, we will of course upload 4.7 releases of
QtJambi as well.

Qt Quick is another story, I'm afraid. What would be the use cases?

Regards,
Helge Fredriksen

 Hi all,
i have successfully started QTJambi on my XP Computer. This was not
the case for some QT Jambi 4.6.X version as i reported here.
Is it really based on the QT 4.7 release candidate

Is there any plan to use QT Quick with QT Jambi?
Thank you for your great work.

 It indeed uses qt4.7 rc1.

I have been thinking about QML support, and there has been some ideas about
in in other forum, but so far no-one has been able to look what would be most
 appropriate way to implement it.

So, ideas, developers, resources for implementing it to Jambi would be useful.

I haven't tried it, but since QML works on QObjects, it might be pretty
easy to get some basic stuff working just by mapping the public
QDeclarative classes to Qt Jambi. When you register a Qt Jambi object
(setContextProperty()) which inherits from QObject, its properties,
signals and slots should be available for use in QML. I guess exposing
custom types to QML will be harder, as it requires a call to a template
function, so it would require some special-case binding code to be
written, but I think you can get pretty far with the built-in types and
QObjects. There might be (read: probably is) something I haven't
considered, though =)

The 'utopic' or maybe 'naive' idea is to simple work using QT Creator and Qt
Script ( and QML ) for UI Design and UI interaction, and then just deploy
the whole as a QT Jambi Application, where Java developpers just need to
implement events in JAVA.
So the developper take benefit of as much as possible of the 'native' tools
provided by Nokia.
Please stop me if i am dreaming too much.
But first of all, let me continue to discover QT Jambi.
Cheers
