Most definitely welcome to the list, Angie!  It sounds as if you were only 13 years old when you acquired your injury.  I had just turned 15 when I was in a motor vehicle accident with my first boyfriend.  A tractor-trailer pullout in front of us after dark but the exact details on the exact cause of what happened is pretty much a mystery.

I finished high school and then went on to college.  I got my baccalaureate degree in 1988 and began working the fall of 1988 at an Independent Living Center.  About four years after that I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and had to have several surgeries that put me out of commission and I stopped working.  But I certainly haven't stopped living!  My days are completely filled with one thing or another and I never have enough time to do all that I want to do!

I have been very fortunate to have some wonderful people come into my life.  Especially because I lost both of my parents around the time of my accident.  Separate incidents altogether.

My current husband and I met on the Internet in late 1995 and were married in 1997.  I have to hand it to you to live in such a cold state!  I lived 21 years of my 26 years as a quad in upper New York State and I hated the cold.  I am now in southern Arizona and I love it!

You will receive this note twice because I sent it to both your e-mail address as well as the quad list.

Welcome again!

Subject: [QUAD-L] Hello

Hi everybody-
I'm Angelique Novak, ventilator dependent quadriplegic from a spinal
cord injury at the levels of C1 & C2.  A wonderful man who shares my
condition turned me on to this list.
I'm 25, in MN, and live at home with my parents.  My injury happened
in August of 1994, I was hit by a negligent man driving his car at over
55mph, while crossing the road on my bike.  He was at fault.
I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.
-Angelique Novak
