I have never had a skin flap. How exactly does it work? I fear I am going to

I have had 3 skin flaps since 1996. Since then, I have gotten a really good 
bed that helps rotate me at night. Only it's broken down at this time, 
thankgoodness I kept my old air flow mattress.
