Re: [QUAD-L] Itchig Head
Hi all, I think we all suffer from dry skin etc. I suffered with dry scalp for years until I found that using T-GEL shampoo. It cleared it up within a week. I do not use any conditioner. I suffer, like everyone here who takes medicine that causes dry mouth And it seems every medicine I take does it. We don’t sweat (at the C-5 level anyway) and our skin does not have the capability of generating its own oils. After 25 years my teeth have fallen out of my head. Lately I have been prescribed massive amounts of vitamin D to help with The Loss of Calcium. Recently, I find my fingernails are falling out (I should stop biting them to shorten them) but I think it’s from a lack of some nutrient in the body. Same problem here Billy. My teeth are a mess. I have three molars right now that need serious work. Burning mouth syndrome is about to get me down. It is interesting reading about everybody having dry skin and itching problems. I am a C3/4 complete 22 years post injury and I have the opposite problem. My skin is so oily I have a bad problem with acne. Pretty much all over my body. My head use to get so itchy it would drive me nuts. The only thing that we found that work was that we scrub my head really good with soap and water twice a day and it generally keeps the itching under control. It is pretty bad when you are 50 years old and is still have bad problems with acne. Actually I think it is worse now than when I was a teenager. I hope everybody has a good new year. We need an automatic head scratcher. A hat with a spinnig wheel inside. Problem is I'd set it for hardest sratching, stiffest wires. :-) At least a few family members have long fingernails, though if I could only have them following behind me, scratching all day long. Last 2 days I tried Benadryl, no help. It's on my face now too. Have doc app next week, hopefully he has an idea. Dematologist jut gave me shampoo samples. RE: [QUAD-L] Itchig Head
I have been using Olive Leaf for itching for a couple of years. I ran out last month, and could not wait until I got my refill from Amazon. I do have allergies and I’ve always used Benadryl, but because of recent studies about Benadryl and Alzheimer’s my Dr. Suggested I not use it.It takes about three weeks to get relief from the itching but it sure works well for me. The outside edge gets crusty, goopy, and feels like I may have scratched it rubbing it so much. Sounds like another doc check up, Greg
Re: [QUAD-L] Itchig Head
Can't help you with the itch, but I get the eye thing all the time. Eyes are gooey. You blink and can see a film over your eye. Gets to the point where you can actually peel the film off your eye with the corner of a kleenex. Had an eye doc tell me it was because my face was really oily and the oils get in my eyes. He suggested rubbing baby shampoo with a qtip where my eye lids and eye lashes meet. It worked. I still get this once in awhile and my wife (a np) said it's actually a low grade staphylococcal infection (that's why no amount of eye flushing helps) and the treatment is the same. I'm up all night trying to scratch my scalp. Like bugs, but nothings there. Dermatologist gave me samples of itch free shampoos, but said everything looks fine. I do not think the cold weather is causing it. Never has before. My face too, it's like I have loose hairs tickling my face. Can allergies cause that? My left eye is watering bad for 3 days now. I flushed it with Visine, and a saline wash, and nothing. The outside edge gets crusty, goopy, and feels like I may have scratched it rubbing it so much. If that doesn't help, try Claritin, etc. Do you take Percocet? It sometimes causes itching. Good luck, my friend.
