I was on a huge doses of neurontin for 7 years and for a year on lyrica. I think The Nerontin helped my pain more but it did destroy my teeth and gums. I had pain in my teeth that showed no problem by x-ray. Shortly after I was having abscesses in 4 different areas and teeth. After rounds of penicillin They tried to remove them and it was hell ! I had neuropathy through out my body and my mouth was the same---it would not be sedated. The short of it, I went to surgery, went to sleep and all were removed. They let me stay on a morphine pump for 3 days for pain. I do not have the same relief as a majority of people do to medications. I do not get to sleep, float or talk creatively.
