It doesn't have the sliding latches that are so prevalent on AUI. And how would you explain the RAMDAC? It also doesn't have the usual power circuitry one sees on AUI. Re: Unknown nubus
Dana, This is my first post to quadlist, having recently acquired a Performa 636CD. About the card you bought via eBay, search Google. Put in as search terms any/all of the numbers/letters on the card. I've done this numerous times, with various kinds of cards, often using the FCC ID number with success. If one search engine doesn't yield results, jump to another. If you need more search engines, search using the term 'search engines' :) Best regards, Jay Maass suburban Philadelphia From: dana sibera [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 2003/02/16 Sun PM 05:59:25 EST To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Quadlist) Subject: Unknown nubus This isn't strictly Quadra related, but as they're mostly Nubus it's vaguely on topic. I bought a card on eBay because it was cheap - and also unidentified. It's given me something to do if nothing else, so it's been worth it. Anyhows - it -seems- to be a video card. a standard DB15 connector is on the back, and it has 2mb of ram in 18 ZIPs, (looks like parity, there) and a RAMDAC which I found online to also be used in a PC card - a Radius Multiview 24. It also happens to use similar ZIPs One of the oddities about it (apart from being virtually unlabelled) is an LED on the rear, and a microswitch (same as a mousebutton) also on the rear panel. In any case, I'd like to find out what the thing is, who made it, and what it can do - I don't have a machine to pop it in and check with tattletech for a few more days, but thought one of y'all may have an idea what it is. There's a scan of the card at http://www.danamania.com/temp/unknownfront.jpg thanks, dana -- Quadlist is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Unknown nubus
Yeah, I know, said I was leaving, but I got a few nice comments offlist... *shrug* Let's just say there's more going on in life, and I blew up here, for which I do apologize to the list. Anyway, back to the card... Something's nagging at me telling me that's a network card (10base2.) Look on the *back* of the card for an FCC ID number - most components will have one. Search on that and you'll be closer to figuring out just *what* it is. (While you're at it, post it here, with any other info.) If nothing else, you'll have the actual manufacturer, which gives you more to search on. The number usually actually starts with FCC ID: but if not... it'll look like this: BCG9GRM0504 The first three digits are the manufacturer's ID code (in this one's case, Apple - for a Mac II monochrome video card.) Searched on Axxyss and ran across... not much. A cartoon demon, someone's resume with Axxyss telemarketing (in French,) and one mention of an sd burner (think it's a mistype of CD burner, given the thread it was part of.) A few sites for the ID search: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ http://www.driverzone.com/fcc_id_search.htm The second one gives some info on what it is and what it looks like. If you follow the resulting links with the info, you may get more detailed info, but not always what you're looking for, just things like if it needs a shielded cable, etc. g Might be worth looking through anyway. -- Quadlist is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
