It should fit fine, I had an Ashley manifold on a Saloon which went into a pattern exhaust, as long as it's not the XR Challenge exhausts then the bore size is the same (2 inch I think).
You shouldnt lose any power, but you might not make many gains with just this. A 4 into 1 manifold will help, as would uprated carbs and a cam (I like Kent) but I dont know what base you're starting from. As to whether stainless or mild steel, you choice really - I've had both and the only real difference I've seen is that stainless carries more condensation so it dribbles when I start the car up.
