Just to tie this one up, I messed about with some steel box section for a 
while but couldnt get it quite right in terms of angle on the front of the 
seat runners so I drilled the 'hump' and bolted the runners straight to 
that. 

Being a tall lad from the legs more than the body means I can now get the 
seat where I want it for my legs without running into the seatbelt area on 
the seat back and an added bonus is my head's not touching the roof anymore 
either.
