No not done it yet. Started the job, but first checked alternator with fan
belt off. Lo and behold noise was alternator bearings, had a spare from the
Xtreme so fitted that. So can belt and water pump waiting to be done.

Good info Jim. I've only worked on Carole and Geoff's 2+2 which has the 
liner riveted and cut outs around the brake pipe.  Quick and easy to remove.

I've never removed the liner as it's normally sikaflexed to the frame, also, 
i think you would have to remove the brake pipe to the front wheel, more 
hassle.

Assuming you have the later 2 part belt cover (most will be) then it can be 
done but it's tight.
You will probably need to lever the engine across slightly on it's mountings 
towards the gearbox side, no need to undo the mountings, just use the flex 
in them.
I have a specially shaped bit of wood that i put in the mounting to push it 
across and hold it there.

It may be quite easy to remove the wheel arch liner to gain more 
access.  It is tight, but should be possible.
