If I understand your description correctly, this happens when you forget to
unmount the drive in the VM before detaching it via Qubes Manager. Remembering
to dismount it in the VM first should prevent this problem.

Re: [qubes-users] Failed to add USB controller to App VM

2016-09-30 Thread neilhardley
OK, this seems to be what I need.

One further question...

https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/dom0-tools/qvm-prefs/

"

pci_strictreset
Accepted values: True, False

Control whether prevent assigning to VM a device which does not support any
reset method. Generally such devices should not be assigned to any VM, because
there will be no way to reset device state after VM shutdown, so the device
could attack next VM to which it will be assigned. But in some cases it could
make sense - for example when the VM to which it is assigned is trusted one, or
is running all the time.

"

---

So... if you were to shut down and restart your entire computer (not just VMs),
would the device state be reset to a safe state...?

Or is this just going to make it unsafe forever..?

Thanks

As I said previously, the version of Windows is not usually discussed
(since it just depends on which updates have been installed) and you
would have got a better answer the first time if you'd included - for
example - "My version number is currently Version 6.1.7601 for my
Windows 7 Guest" in your original question. That better question would
have got you a better answer.

Serious advice: whether you intend it or not, Drew, a large number of
your posts come across to many people here as impolite, aggressive &
demanding. This is not generally the case with other posters. The fact
that many people feel the same about your posts should tell you
something.

For example, here's how your current question could have been asked in a
better way.

You see the difference? Your follow-up reply was inappropriate. It
didn't actually explain what you wanted, it didn't help them to help
you, and it led to this ridiculous thread.

Hope this helps, genuinely.

Dave.

By fixing them if you can or paying someone for fixing them if you
can't. Or politely asking if someone can provide a fix because he deems
the problem important enough or at least well described.

Yes. Just as my mother calling me to tell me "I erased the Internet!".
You didn't provide details of a (known) non-problem; you ranted and
demanded.

Poor you; the whole world is against you and you cannot figure out why
even if the bad world is continuously telling you why and everybody is
ignoring your issues completely. Hint: People get tired of you if you
constantly annoy them.

But that might be much more fitting to your lifestyle, your experience,
your demands and your behavior. And if you want paid support, why not
install Windows 10 and rant at Cortana; she seems getting used to
disgruntled five-year-olds complaining about their parents so I'm sure
she will put up with your demands.

I guess so. I hope so or I would probably end like Marvin, the depressed

Actually I didn't see anyone attacking you up to now. They're just
venting a bit of their frustration about your major contributions to

Even more *rofl* on this. What's next? Calling me gay like the last

Try this:

1. In your Fedora TemplateVM, edit this file:

   /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo

2. Change "enabled=0" to "enabled=1".

Why would it not work? But the question is rather why use Qubes OS?
If it's a dedicated server, you should look into XenServer, which basically can
be thought of a Qubes-Server OS ;) and is widely deployed in data centers
across the world.

I just did a clean install from a usb. restored my vms and custom templates
from my 3.1 backup everything working good.

My mother appreciates the restart button so now she doesn't have to use
terminal to restart the sys-usb lol. Tks for all your hard work.

I'm gonna necro this. I'm on 3.2, and I have the same problem. I actually
couldn't get Remix to boot, so I used vanilla Android-x86. It boots, but no
mouse. I also tried ChromeOS images by ArnoldTheBat, but those wouldn't boot,
either. I've had a lot of problems getting HVMs to work (probably PEBKAC, but
that's why I've never been a huge fan of Xen). Any settings I can fiddle with?

[qubes-users] Tor Swich?

2016-09-30 Thread 07341837213213721742142143
Hello,

for all Tor Users it might be great, if they can hide inside a lot of
cover-traffic.

But the Tor Network might also be perfect to devleop a command and control
infrastructure.

Is it possible my QubesOS has not Tor Features inside the "autostart" and so I
must activate it active, by pressing a "Switch" (and if I press the switch
again, the Tor is 100% off)?

I see a lot of strange outgoing traffic...

Kind Regards

Hi
My resolution is 1366x768, have changed between Laptop Screen and VGA1-2
but it is the same.

In the previous post I have made a mistake. Messages show up only when
start VM, when I connect with a VPN open nothing. (In 3.1 a time that the
connection was established, there was a message that appeared)

Same here. Btw, the new CyanogenMod based image was released today and
it works nicely.

> It boots, but no mouse.

I have a mouse pointer, but also need to drag it around like described
in the beginning of this thread and that works rather badly.

I would also be very interested in getting the mouse to work properly,
so an Android x86 HVM can replace the Android emulator which is not
functional in Qubes.

Torsten

Re: [qubes-users] Re: I can't disable ipv6 on Debian Template

2016-09-30 Thread nishiwaka46
Hi,

Could a Qubes developer pay attention on this ticket, please ?

I can't reinstall any other OS than Qubes on my HDD. When I put in a USB key,
it doesn't boot on it, it switches directly to the GRUB menu.

I am sure at 100% it comes from some sort of disk protection that Qubes put on
my disk. I am also sure that those USB keys would work on any other HDDs, as
they are properly burnt.

I tried to reinstall Qubes without disk encryption. It didn't change the
outcome.

How do I remove this disk block so I can use USB keys to install another OS
than Qubes ?
If you wanna make hostages, then say it on your web page because right now my
disk is unusable and it's Qubes responsibility at 100%.

I'll wait here until someone tells me how to completely erase Qubes from my
disk (USB PROTECTION INCLUDED) so that EVENTUALLY I could switch to another OS
and FUCKING MOVE ON, FOR GOD'S SAKE.

Re: [qubes-users] Installing Chrome

https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/ chrome automatically has
flash. I would run chrome in the untrusted vm. chromium with apparmor on
debian8 in the trusted one.

If I understand you correctly though you want the flash from google-chrome.
Go to their website in a disposable vm. download the file for fedora and then
transfer it to your template vm and install it. I believe it automatically
verify it but check to be sure.

Re: [qubes-users] Re: I can't disable ipv6 on Debian Template

2016-09-30 Thread nishiwaka46
I was indeed but I lost trust in Qubes. Officially ipv6 disabled by default but
hf being secretly backdoored on ipv6... Nice privacy respect policies.

I won't wait another week with my HDD disabled by this OS.
Come on, please, why would someone doubt on something that is so obvious ? I
used 3 different USB keys and different iso images. Every USB keys fails on
booting while isos have been properly burnt to USBs on a fresh new install.
Can't install any other OS, my hard drive is locked. This is so disgusting.

Some explanations on how to completely erase Qubes OS and his disk USB
protection out of your hard disk would be really helpful, as I can't use
currently my computer..

Been a while since I did this, but I believe that if you create a new VM
and specify "ProxyVM" as the type instead of "AppVM" or "NetVM", you'll
wind up with a VM that has similar (or identical?) configuration as
sys-firewall.

Cheers,
