No such thing as a stupid question.

Answer: Nothing is stopping me from installing into a 64 bit environment, but I
want a 32 bit environment for some things. I'm a developer/programmer/coder, so
it's just something that I need, and I was hoping there would be an easier way
than using qemu-system-i386 all the time and having that integrate into the Xen
Domains. So I thought there must be a way for it to work in Qubes, so I'm
asking about i386 in Qubes version of Xen.

How do I get x86/i386 architecture? I want to get 32 bit, not 64 bit guests
without being forced to use the xen qemu-system-i386. Because many things in
that functionality I can install because they conflict with some Qubes packages.

its really simple to do that.

order yourself an Intel Wifi card like me. costs around 45 USD
it will work without doing anything once you replaced the broadcom card no need
to type in any commands.

Intel wi-fi requires binary blobs which are a black box and will stop
working eventually.

Get yourself one with a realtek or atheros chipset that doesn't require
blobs such as A5K or A9K series, they will cost less than an intel
chipset as well.

Without it is possible for someone to use a device in any VM to

You need to enable VT-x in your bios if your cpu contains it.

If you are unsure then check with hardware compatibility list.

[qubes-users] Unable to create Windows7 HVM

2017-01-10 Thread bartabbas
hello,

I'm just installing Qubes OS 3.2 on a dualcore arch. The install process runs
fine, with no errors.

After install and post-install processes (no errors apparently), I try to
create a new VM on the Qubes VM manager.

I've got a message, but no new VM :

ERROR: invalid argument: could not find capabilities for arch=x86_64

help welcome, but warning : be explicit; I'm a rookie on Qubes ;)

best regards,
bartabbas

[qubes-users] HCL - Dell Inc - Latitude E5570

2017-01-10 Thread Michael Krzyzanski

Hi,

at the Setup you need to use the workaround for UEFI.

All Hardware is working well, also inside the docking Station with two
additional screen.

The recognition of external screens fails from time to time. On boot in
the Docking Station you can do the following to make the external
screens work. Keep the lid of the notebook closed. Boot up, it will take
some time till the external Screens start (up to 20 Seconds). When you
pass HDD Encryption you can open the lid without any problems. You have
to open it, because after login, the Manager only shows up at that
screen. Trying to make the main menu run on another screen failed so far.

Sound works great, Videos also.

Windows VM works well and fast, too. Just do not let it join a Domain ;)
If you do, run it afterwards in debug mode.

Hope this helps.

Bye

Michael

Note that even if the chipset supports IOMMU, it may be disabled in the
‘BIOS’, or even not supported by it:

«Even when the chipset supports IOMMU, the bios must have a ACPI IVRS
table to enable the use of it!»
