[qubes-users] Attach cd-rom block device to Fedora Template VM (where does it show up?)
Hello, I think I'm doing something pretty basic and coming up empty. I'm putting a CD Rom in an internal SATA cd-rom device and then using the "Attach block device" to attach it to a (running) Fedora template VM. Where is this supposed to appear? I can't find it anywhere. /mnt/removable seems like a likely place but there's nothing there (although the Qubes VM Manager shows a device attached successfully.) Doubt this matters, but this template is Fedora 2 - I followed the instructions to update the provided Fedora 23 template since Fedora 23 is end-of-life. Any help greatly appreciated. [qubes-users] No Wifi Adapter in my-sys-net (based on fedora-24-minimal)
Hello, my Lenovo W540 is working without any problems under Qubes 3.2 with the fedora-23 templates. I have now created a new template based on fedora-24-minimal which I use für my Net-VM, Firewall-VM and also USB-Qube. Strangely my Wifi adapter is not available in my sys-net (based on fedora-24-minimal) while it is working without any problems in the sys-net (based on fedora-23). [qubes-users] Qubes WIndows seamless GUI integration
Hi there, After some struggle, I finally succeded creating a Windows 7 AppVm based upon a Windows HVM template. The Qubes Windows tools are properly installed into the template VM. So far so good. But, if I try to start Windows apps in "seamless" GUI mode - so their windows opens diretcly onto the Qubes desktop, without the complete Windows desktop, I just get no display at all. In "non-seamless mode", things are allright (and I get an usual Windows VM display with background, taskbar etc), but in "seamless" mode... Well that's just blind mode, no display, no error, nothing. Does anybody have any clue ? TIA, kind regards. ॐ -- Swâmi Petaramesh PGP 9076E32E -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] Best Desktop for Qubes
A companion to the Best Laptop for Qubes thread :) Most of the HCL is filled with laptops - very few desktops are there, especially on the high end. Currently I have a Dell Inspiron - works but 16GB RAM is max there (and it is a non-ECC so most probably more than that does not make much sense), and 16BG is not enough for me (browsers seem to eat unbelievable amounts of RAM). Is there a recommended desktop system for Qubes with over 16GB RAM? -- Zbigniew Lukasiak http://brudnopis.blogspot.com/ http://perlalchemy.blogspot.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] SOLVED: Help :: Disposable VMs start without a NetVM (can't use DVMs currently )
Hello Unman, On 07/02/17 03:19, Unman wrote: The "netVM for dispVM" entry sets the netVM for disposableVMs started from that qube. If you start it from the Qubes Menu then it will (should) honour the setting for the dvmTemplate, and so in your case start a disposableVM attached to the firewall. If you are starting a disposableVM from a qube (by e.g "open in disposable VM") then THAT disposableVM will be connected to whatever the entry for "NetVM for dispVM" says for that qube. Thank you for the clarification, that wasn't clear to me, maybe this should be highlighted in the documentation? * Solution * I have removed the DVM-template and made sure that the template VM will work if I attach my sys-firewall as Net-VM to it. I then did the following steps in dom0, where "my-fedora-24-apps" is my own fedora template for app-vms. # Create a new template for my disposable VMs based on my template "my-fedora-24-apps" qvm-create-default-dvm my-fedora-24-apps # attach sys-firewall to this template qvm-prefs -s my-fedora-24-apps-dvm netvm sys-firewall # Reboot Qubes shutdown -r now After the reboot I started DispVM: Firefox web Browser from the Qubes menu with a working network connection.
