The generated file contained a unicode entity for that character, I copied it to the clipboard, then did Ctrl-Shift-C and Ctrl-Shift-V, then pasted in another VM. Suddenly the unicode character was gone - the only difference as far as I could tell. Are there known problems in that area? I don't know which software package is responsible for this - I'm on R4.0 with recent updates. https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/236 says unicode is supported. If you can recreate it, might be worth submitting a new issue referencing that one? Possibly related:https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/2845 Agreed, that sounds like the same problem. I did a search but I didn't imagine the issue to be so specific to dashes - I was using search terms like "unicode" and didn't come up with anything. Meanwhile it doesn't look like these issues (#2845 and https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/4739) are going anywhere. Can we do anything to analyze the problem more, or are additional use cases required to reproduce? I think this is quite important, not just for the purpose of copying dashes, but also because broken confidence in the clipboard transfer process makes life a lot harder... Thanks Oli The most effective way to make progress on those issues would be to contribute patches. Short of that, any information you can provide that would help the devs fix the problem would help. Aside from that, I'm afraid it's simply a matter of having a small, very busy dev team and well over a thousand open issues of which this is only one. -- Andrew David Wong (Axon) Community Manager, Qubes OS https://www.qubes-os.org -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. Re: [qubes-users] Qubes on Dell Vostro 5581?
Tomáš Vondra: Hi, I'm still struggling with the suspend issue, unfortunately, and I'm kinda stuck so I'd appreciate some ideas what to try. Everything else seems to be working, but during suspend the laptop gets stuck (black screen, but I can hear the fans still spinning). And then it does not wake up, of couse. I've tried installing new kernel, as described on https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/software-update-dom0/ and I've even switched to qubes-dom0-current-testing, but neither of that helped :-( I'm now on kernel 5.2.16, which is newer than what the Fedora/Ubuntu installs used (and suspend works fine with them), so there has to be something else, specific to qubes. But I have no idea what, and I'm not sure how to debug suspend. Any ideas? (I've been trying to build Qubes 4.1 as described on https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/qubes-iso-building/, but I keep running into various issues with that too, so I haven't been able to actually test it.) thanks I have the exact same suspend/resume problem on an Inspiron 5975, and another user here recently had the same issue with a different laptop. So it's pretty common I guess. Qubes is stuck on F25 right now, and the hardware is too new for the software. Same as you, I had it working under F30 with an older kernel, but not under Qubes (F25) with a newer kernel, so it appears that maybe userland has something to do with it too, not just the kernel. I haven't been able to find any general remedy for this. I remember reading somewhere that upgrading dom0 to F30 is more or less impossible. You might be able to narrow down the userland components and upgrade them individually, but I have no idea how to go about that. If you find anything out, please let me know! There is a pre-release 4.1 iso available. https://openqa.qubes-os.org/tests/3021 - this is a kind of old link so newer builds may be available. I could not get it to install on my machine so I couldn't test suspend on it, but it might work for you. - This free account was provided by VFEmail.net - report spam to ab...@vfemail.net ONLY AT VFEmail! - Use our Metadata Mitigator to keep your email out of the NSA's hands! $24.95 ONETIME Lifetime accounts with Privacy Features! 15GB disk! Re: [qubes-users] Installation on Lenovo ThinkStation P330 (2. generation)
A Lenovo support adviser have tried to install the same version of Qubes OS on a P330 with a similar configuration without any problem. Here is what he did: “I was able to get Qubes OS installed on the ThinkStation P330 using the link provide above. I used Rufus 3.3 to burn the ISO to a USB device in "dd" mode. One of the first things I did on my system was boot into BIOS F1 setup -> "Exit" tab -> Set "OS Optimized Defaults" to "Disabled". Once making that change, I pressed F12 to Save and Exit BIOS. I then inserted the USB key into one of the USB ports on the P330, pressed F12 to get to the BIOS startup menu, and selected the "UEFI" option for the USB key. My system then loaded the Qubes installation GUI screen in which I essentially took all the default options to get it installed. Right now, my system is sitting at the Qubes OS desktop screen.” When I disabled the option "OS Optimized Defaults", saved and restarted the pc, I got a black screen already from the pc started up. So I could not even go into bios. As I couldn’t clear the CMOS by moving a jumper on the motherboard, support members at Lenovo think it’s related to hardware failure. And a technician from Lenovo will come at Monday and change the motherboard. I return with an update after trying to install Qubes OS again afterwards. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
