[qubes-users] Installing SSD after installation of qubes onto another disk

2019-11-01 Thread Russ
Hi,

Is it possible to move core files to an ssd after the operating system has
been installed on an internal hdd?
I'd like to move to the ssd to increase speed, it is now physically install
(wasn't before). Ideally, this would not require reinstalling to the entire
system.

Well Claudia it seems pretty obvious that we do not want to publish any
information about an unresolved security issue. Also we do not want to
stress our much loved developers who already do miracles. So dear Claudia,
use the present release, be very happy and do not waste your time worrying
about things like this :-))

[qubes-users] Using Mullvad VPN in Qubes

In case anyone is interested, I just wrote a blog post about how I
configure Mullvad in Qubes, using NetworkManager, a script to
auto-connect, and the Qubes firewall.

Re: [qubes-users] Re: fyi - System76 Will Ship 2 Linux Laptops w Coreboot

2019-11-01 Thread 'thenewgeek' via qubes-users
Darter Pro is the Clevo N151CU. Many Clevo authorized sellers are already
selling this model. Some even selling with 64GB RAM which would be great for
Qubes OS. Would it be possible to use same coreboot as system76 on the Clevo
N151CU?

I'm using the P751-TM1-G model with 64GB RAM and i7-8700k. After some tinkering
I could get both USB-C ports working. But, this is a heavy workstation. N151CU
would be much portable with better battery life.

[qubes-users] Building a new pc for running Qubes OS

2019-11-01 Thread M
I’m thinking about building a new pc for running Qubes OS with the following
specifications:

1) Motherboard: ASRock X570 Pro4
2) CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with onboard graphic (until they release one for
PCIe 4.0 with onboard graphic)
3) SSD: AORUS

Does anyone know about if this will result in any problems in relation to
running Qubes OS besides “the ordinary challenges”, and if so which problems ?

2019-11-01 Thread Bill Oliver
Funny you should say that. I've done the same thing! I had some
hassles trying to upgrade, and thought to myself "Well, screw it. I'll
just install Kubuntu for now and wait for 4.0.2 to come out." And it
never did. I still have faith, don't get me wrong, and I'm not the
kind of ass who would complain because smart people who are doing great
work for free aren't pandering to me enough, but yeah. I'm kinda
sitting on my hands here, too.

[qubes-users] using headphone/mic jack

2019-11-01 Thread liked2

Hi!

I'd like to use the headphone/mic jack in my laptop for input and output. How
would I connect it to a AppVM so that it can be used as microphone?

Thanks, Pete

[qubes-users] Any news on 4.0.2-rc2?

2019-11-01 Thread Claudia

re: https://www.mail-archive.com/qubes-users@googlegroups.com/msg30379.html

So as I understand, there were two problems with rc1. Bug #5149, which
was closed as resolved three days ago. And an unknown "pending security
issue".

Where can we find more info on this pending security issue? I don't see
a QSB around the time that message was posted (Sept 2 2019).

Are there any updates regarding the release of rc2? And, is there any
way we can track its progress? Github doesn't seem to have milestones
for point releases, much less rc's.

According to the Qubes release schedule, exactly five weeks after an rc
comes out, either another rc or a stable should follow. Seeing as how
rc1 was announced July 9, it would seem we're long overdue.

The reason I ask is because I ran into problems bringing 4.0.1 up to
date, but I thought "oh well, by the time I get this figured out,
4.0.2(-rc2, at least) will be out anyways. Might as well wait and start
fresh." But now nearly 4 months later, here we sit.

I appreciate all the hard work that goes into every release. Just asking
if there are any status updates, that's all.
