[qubes-users] Migrating to Qubes OS
Hello, migrating from Ubuntu 20.04 to Qubes OS I have still quite a few problems I ran into and could not solve yet using the documentation etc. 1. I need to use an external USB-Keyboard which is plugged into the docking station of my X230 Thinkpad. I can connect the Keyboard to one running VM using sys-usb but this results in a falsely changed keyboard layout (US instead of DE) and I need to reboot to reset this as the built in keyboard layout is affected in the same way. 2. Further it would be great to know how to automatically connect to several selected VM after boot without connecting it directly to dom0 or if not possible how to connect it to dom0 as I was not able to understand the many different options mentioned in the documentation etc. 3. The sys-net VPN (PPTP) is not working although the settings are the same as using Ubuntu, where it connected. Is there a way to get the VPN up and running? 4. The qubes add on for thunderbird is not compatible with thunderbird 78 is it planned to upgrade it soon? 5. When disconnecting from the docking station to which the 2nd screen is connected to, the windows are not automatically resized/-grouped so it is kind of hard to access those invisible on the second screen which is no longer attached, is there a way to improve this? That is it for now though I might run in to more issues the coming days. Hope you can help me especially with the first and 3rd issue as those are most urgent. Many thanks! [qubes-users] Announcement: Fedora 33 TemplateVMs available
Dear Qubes Community, New Fedora 33 TemplateVMs are now available for both Qubes 4.0 and 4.1. *Important:* If you wish to use the Qubes Update widget to update a Fedora 33 template, you must first switch [1] the `default-mgmt-dvm` qube to a Fedora 33 template. (Alternatively, you can create a separate management DisposableVM Template based on a Fedora 33 template for the purpose of updating Fedora 33 templates.) This does not affect updating internally using `dnf`. Instructions are available for upgrading Fedora TemplateVMs [2]. We also provide fresh Fedora 33 TemplateVM packages through the official Qubes repositories, which you can get with the following commands (in dom0). Standard [3] Fedora 33 TemplateVM: $ sudo qubes-dom0-update qubes-template-fedora-33 Minimal [4] Fedora 33 TemplateVM: $ sudo qubes-dom0-update qubes-template-fedora-33-minimal After installing or upgrading a TemplateVM, please remember to update [5] (see important note above) and switch all qubes that were using the old template to use the new one [1]. Re: [qubes-users] HCL - Dell XPS 9570
On 2/25/21 9:41 PM, 'Ben Moody' via qubes-users wrote: Some prior reports report these machines are working Hi Ben, I could only find one report for this exact machine and that's the report from Jan Fabo [1]. But even then your machines are not 100% the same. Jan's machine runs an older BIOS (v1.5.0) and has an i9-8950HK. But that's about all the difference I could see from the HCLs. It might be worth to contact him and exchange experiences / document them here for others. I have merged your reports into one HCL (they can contain multiple versions) and submitted a PR [2]. The one from Jan will remain separate because of how the HCL format is structured (if there is any hardware difference it needs to be a separate entry -- makes sense). Thank you for the report! Happy to read you have a Qubes OS install that works for you ("X1 Carbon 5th running 4.0.4 w/ i3"). /Sven [1] https://groups.google.com/g/qubes-users/c/jg2XjhLylc0/m/XKox0B7jCQAJ [2] https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-hcl/pull/47 -- public key: https://www.svensemmler.org/0x8F541FB6.asc fingerprint: D7CA F2DB 658D 89BC 08D6 A7AA DA6E 167B 8F54 1FB6 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
