[qubes-users] [Newbie] RDP client unable to connect to server through vpn
I setup a vpn connection following tasket's Qubes-vpn-support. (https://github.com/tasket/Qubes-vpn-support) I was able to connect to the vpn remote server and browse its web server content with Firefox. However, when I try to use Remmina to connect to the remote rdp server, it times out. Is this something being blocked by the firewall? I understand that this isn't some purelly Qubes issue, and it probably isn't an issue after all, just some setting that should be tinkered (firewall?). The point is that, with all these qubes I'm kind of lost where to start debugging, what to change and where. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] [newbie] Automatically mount Windows partition on boot/appvm startup
Hi all, Is it possible to automatically mount a Windows partition on appvm startup? I'm currently using Qubes OS as my main OS, but I need access to the Windows partition, which is the official OS in the organization where I work, unfortunatelly. I would like to avoid the manual two-step mounting procedure: 1 - Dom0: attach the partition to a specific vm as a xvd device; 2 - Mount the xvd device on the appvm. I had to reinstall Qubes OS on this Lenovo and this time I realized that Qubes had disabled the USB qube creation option because I was using a USB keyboard, according to Qubes warning on the screen. So, the USB disabled option doesn't seem to be an issue -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] HCL Lenovo ThinkCentre E73z
I've just installed it, updated Personal vm, opened Firefox Personal, so far so good. On first boot after installation, it didn't allowed me to choose to create a USB vm, option was blocked. This didn't happened to me when I installed Qubes on a Dell Inspiron N4050 laptop. At least, it seems to comply both with HVM and IOMMU according to HCL Info script. Except for the USB issue, so far so good. I'm planning to address the USB issue as soon as I can, when I will try to manually set it up. *Gustavo Lapido Loureiro* Técnico de Infraestrutura Doméstica de Computação e Redes Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gll.info Telefone: +55 21 9-9385-0441 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] [newbie] Memory settings
I changed my personal vm max memory to 8 GB since this will be the vm where I plan to run most of my applications, most of them memory consuming (Firefox with hundreds of opened tabs, video playing, image processing...). Initial memory was automatically adjusted to 800 MB. Memory balancing is turned on. I have 12 GB of ram installed on my laptop. Is this an acceptable procedure? Before posting this I read this post https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/qubes-users/memory$20appvm/qubes-users/lxcMPl01hMM/uCe3PXhlJyEJ and, although the final conclusion seems to be "Don't touch default settings, let automatic memory balancing take care of it", it is from 2014, so I wonder if things could have changed since then? If it's still effective, then I wonder when it would be necessary to change those settings? [qubes-users] [newbie] GUI network traffic tool
Hi, Is there a tool where I can monitor network traffic for the whole physical computer? If I understood Qubes OS, the tool I'm refering to should sit on Dom0, right? A tool like Gnome System Monitor is what I'm thinking about, as it shows network traffic, but I could only find it in the AppVMs, so it will only show the AppVM's traffic, not the whole computer's. [qubes-users] Presentation
Hi, I've just joined the group and would like to give a brief presentation. I leave in Brazil and have a computer science bachelor degree from the eighties. I mainly worked as a Cobol programmer so far but a couple of years ago I discovered Linux and since then, I've been tweaking here and there during my spare hours at home. I'm an Ubuntu guy, but when I hear about Qubes OS I became fascinated by its "strange" paradigm of having everything virtualized. Since yesterday, I decided to replace ubuntu for Qubes OS. I love Ubuntu, but I really wanted to dive deeper into Qubes. I'm not that concerned about security. What I'm really fascinated about is having this computer which, at first sight seems as any computer, but when looked closer shows a seamless collection of paravirtualized environments. This drives me towards an aesthetic feeling of facing (and using) a beatiful work of art. Finally, I realize that I joined the group in a tense moment, but I hope everything is solved in the best way to all. Best wishes to all. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group.
