A few times now I've suspended and resumed a Qubes laptop and seen a
Fedora VM with the time it had before the suspend, where I expected it
to instead switch to the current time. The non-switch seems perfectly
correlated with a line like

Update: Things are working better now. Here are self-contained
instructions for setting up a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen8 as a new Qubes
machine, wiping out everything previously installed on the machine.
Hardware compatibility notes after brief tests:
* Touchpad works _after_ the fix below
I'm installing Qubes 4.0.3 on a new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8.
Almost working, but still one problem described below.
The touchpad and accelerated graphics don't work on install and initial
boot. Fix: "sudo qubes-dom0-update kernel-latest" (kernel 5.6.16-1)
makes them work after that.
The logs below seem self-explanatory. qubes-qube-manager printed
Connection to qubesd terminated, reconnecting in 1.0 seconds
on the terminal but this reconnection wasn't enough for recovery.
